Haven't posted one in a while... so here's some pictures for your enjoyment.
The day started off terrible on my part. I woke up on my couch in jeans and a t-shirt with my buddy waiting outside at 6:00 am to pick me up... Oops.
Get in the car... and well, one other person has no skins. Awesome.
Rip unto whistler, stop by the Escape Route, the super helpful ladies helped us out, and up we went... Got to the bottom of Glacier Chair, waited a whole 5 minutes for it to open. Perfect Timing.
Up the chair, up the t-bar, and next we know we're heading up Decker...
Some BIG crevasses on the way...
... and apparently sometimes it's just really steep.
After deciding my own route over to Trorey, I had some time for a self portrait.
Then I made excuses like 'Oh, what an awesome shot', so I could have a break...
We made it about 1/2 way up Trorey, and with all of us forgetting our headlamps, and the snow turning bad, we figured we'd drop in, and make our way back to decker.
Not a bad face though.
Now... Heading back was interesting. It was warming up quite a bit, and the cornices were scary large. As I rolled over this (see my tracks), this WHOLE cornice went. The rock you see used to be covered, the cornice went out about 20 feet... Quite an eye opener.
That said, we made it safely back to Decker. We headed towards 19th hole, and decided we needed to get off the mountain.
Here's my line...
Carl dropping in...
Ryan's Next...
... and getting close to me...
Carl skiing back into the valley.
tele-Martin showing off his stuff…
... then skiing some more...
There was the best ski out I've ever seen out the low road around Disease Ridge, and it took us maybe 10 minutes max from the bottom of Decker to 7th (which was a record time for myself). We were all stoked.
Sharing the love...
... and going home...
All in all was a great day. Didn't summit Trorey, but we originally planned to just ski Decker and had a TERRIBLE morning, so we weren't too disappointed. Once it starts getting warm and the sun comes out, be careful, it gets really scary really fast.
That F'in cornice man on decker ridge! I skied over the same one and nearly fell through to the bottom on my first spearhead traverse attempt - here's a shot.
Saw my Broken Spectre on top of that cornice too! My buddy will skins up Decker ridge as i'm in the rainbow-
That thing looks HUGE from your shot. I just heard it go, and turned around quick enough to see it just falling out of sight... Didn't realize it was THAT big.
