    dalbello virus?

any word on when these are going to show up? nothing on their web site about these boot's but saw an ad in one of the mags, 3 models, light, tour and freeride(i think)? looked like the freeride did not have tech inserts. anyone know if they have any plans to make a krypton at boot?

sales just begun this week in europe. First reports say they're very good boots, albeit not particularly light. And yes, the freeride model is cheaper but has no dynafit inserts. The other two are in pebax (lighter) or PU. Testers of the pebax say they did not suffer of the classic pebax-related "rebound". All 2nd hand, though.

Verbier61: Any idea of prices? In Sweden the Tour goes for aprox 480-500 EU...

I'm curious about how the moving parts will hold up after some abuse, if they do it prob is a great boot.

    nah.
freeride and tour are both in PU. Freeride has no dyna inserts and has furry liners (that can be requested also for the tour). Lite are in pebax, no furry liners available.

Verbier is right on the money for the model breakdown. My rep told me they made a change to the hinge lock at the top of the tongue, but haven't seen it yet. Ours are supposed in before the end of the month but we will see. We are bringing in the freeride and the tour, next we will add the lite. Can't remember the pricing but it's around here somewhere.

I've read only very positive comments, but all from people that are in some way in connection with dalbello, so...... it's too early. But looks like they serve a wider foot than zzeus/titan

I fiddlet with the demo Tour in my size @ Expo...

Seems a tad wider than my ZZeus... but also higher volume (ie. more space above me flat feet)...

    So not perfect for me.

But they do come in a pygmi size (24.5/25 shell)... at least that's what the rep told me...

Now I need to decide wether I will punch out my ZZeus or if I'll just sell 'em an get the Virus Tour...

I'm thinking about getting some next year and I have also only read good reviews. Although I did read somewhere that a guy though that they had too many moving parts, do you think that could be a problem?

I tried on 1/2 pair of the Lites in Tahoe, with the softest tongue. Didn't seem that stiff or light compared to my Zzero 4 C.

Village Ski Loft here in Incline was saying they should have them next week. I tried on a demo recently, it was really really nice. The walk mode was amazingly good. Quality seemed very good.

Fit was wider than I want (like every other dynafit boot). It was a demo not production model, but it felt like it is possibly narrower than my factors. Take that with a grain of salt though, I get excited about every new dynafit-compatible boot until such time as I actually buy them and then figure out they suck.

Did I mention the walk mode rules?

Patches - how was the flex compared to your Factors? Which model did you try on?

I shouldn't say, I hadn't worn my factors for 6 months. So I shouldn't even be speculating about the width/volume. There is a lot of conflicting information out there about boot fit and I don't want to add to it. The only thing I can say for certain is that the quality is good and the walk mode is very impressive.

I will say this: if you are in the market for a pair of AT boots and don't try these on (even if its out of the way for you) you are a fuckin retard.

Oh, I tried on the non-dynafit version. They were prototypes though, well over a year old, so I don't know if that means anything.

    FWIW,

I had a good chat with the guys over at Suburban Sport about the Virus. Here is some info I got that I was interested in:

Virus Lite tongue flex of 90
Virus Tour tongue flex of 110
Virus Tour has a stiffer shell overall
They all come with the Intuition liner
Virus Tour is only 1/2lb per pair heavier than my Spirit 3 boots
Fit is a little more generous (width) than the Krypton Pro
They have the Lite and Free in stock and can order the Tour

I ordered a pair of Tours and can give some first hand reports when they get here. Of course I will be comparing them to Spirit 3's so it won't be too useful to those with beefier boots. The reason I am giving them a try is the Spirit 3's are too soft with the walk tongue and lose most of the walk mode with the stiff tongue from the Skookum.

Virus showed up at the shop today, should be hitting other places in the US soon.
2 piece tongue is very cool and great for walking...i would say not as stiff as factors though

Out of curiosity, where would you put the Tour and Lite in the flex comparo?
