    Ruby's and Diamonds - A Kirkwood Moment

    Rubies + Diamonds

    =

    tracks provided by KW Patrol.

Saturday at Kirkwood was destined to be a great day. Recent storms had put 15 or so inches across the mountain and it was a great combination that hiked like less and skied like more.
There were plenty of cameras around of all type, so there should be plenty of pictures from others. Most of these here pics are by TahoeTrash, who performed admirably behind the lens today

This is also a sad day. After all, what is a Kirkwood Moment TR without the (recently retired to Naples, Fl) 666.

1rst turn of the day is a good one. From the top we didn't even realize the other tracks (on our right) were a dollar sign.

Realizing there was money in farming, the hordes followed suit

dropping into the skiers right side of Main

    and to the ice cliffs
    looking good

    oh yeah, i'm claiming it

    bracing for

    the MOMENT of impact

    Fuckin Skis!!!

I was still recovering so I don't know what AK was bruin here, but it sure looks cool.

Your Ruby's will be back any Moment, but just one more lap

Actually, after that lap I realized that my shovel handle had come out on the previous lap's beater, so i had to go back to the scene of the crime.

Fuckin skis let me down again!!
Seriously, i love them but they do make my eyes bigger than my stomach.

after returning the skis we watched some skimming. This kid grabbed the doll (worth an ONeill jacket I think) and then hit the curb-like tranny coming out of the water.

The picture doesn't do his out of control inverted aerial justice (though it may indicate he is a regular in the padded room).
Suffice to say, it was awesome and he deserved the jacket.

then we hit Red Cliffs back to the car. The skimming from a distance

The same guy a few seconds later. The dark patch below the pool is his out of control shadow. The pond skimming seemed to be a hit.

The day was one of the year's best for me. Also props to frush for busting his bc cherry (sidecountry anyway). i'm guessing he'll be back.

There were so many Moment skis running around today it was silly. The only reason:

Putting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.

Metalmücil 2010 - 2013 "Go Home" album is now a free download

the ruby's were awesome. the 190's were turnier than i would have thought but there is a good sidecut to them and the rocker makes them ski shorter. at one point, MOMENTs after the 'one more lap' picture i thought they got a little squirrelly at speeds, but it was probably me being squirrelly because i was going faster than i ever have before.
The platform oozed confidence which could get me hurt (more than i do now) in the long run.

Did you launch the big rock outcropping at the top of main that we were talkng about before I dropped the cornice. Somebody cleared it and it was sweet.

I went first and s.p.c. went 2nd. We both cleared and stomped it. Sooo fun!

I then proceeded to find the fabled double just below that and subluxated my shoulder on a wierd pole plant on barely-covered rock. Blurred would be proud.

    Rubys don't have rocker.

I liked the Ruby, but the Bibby gave me wood (cores), damn those things rock(er)ed. I will be buying them over the summer.

By the looks of it, slack country was well slayed. Bummed I missed the KW Moment. I waited all season to try some of those sticks.

DOH! My jongaper is showing. They seemed turnier and softer than the gotamas, but after further review the radius is only 1 meter shorter and the stiffness is comparable. Could be that it's a lighter setup than the gotama duke set up.

An anvil is lighter than the Gotama/Duke setup.
