    Rossignol Turntable/Pivot comeback

Stoked. It has been rumored for awhile, but I just saw this during the X-Games Pipe Finals. Rossi rider Xavier Bertoni who won super pipe finals in the x-games was on turntable bindings, which means the pairs of old narrow-brake p15s/p18s I've been hoarding in light of the economic meltdown are now outdated...

    Rossi.

    Turntable Confirmed. Fuck ya.

note the short heel piece footprint and metal arms

...i wonder if rossi will let me switch old base plates out with new wide brake ones

I wonder if they'll make new jigs that are actually wide enough for fatties.

don't mean shit, lots of riders hoarded those. although one of the reps active on this site has gone as far as to (almost) confirm their reinstatement.

Hopefully this means I can stop trying to find a non broken pair of heels from thrift shops and get my bro's remounted.

Meh, I've been hearing stuff like that for years. I want to believe as much as anyone, and I'm excited to think that it might happen. BUT, there is this other group of people that has been saying this Jeezus guy was going to be coming back any time now... It's almost the same story. Lots of promises and no results.

    Don't hold your breath

The mold for that heel is spent and worn out, Rossi division is broke, 1% of the skiing population has interest in these bindings aa far as capital is concerned.

    Yeah?

Well, my best buddy who works at a shop in Whistler said that Ian Macintosh is on some turntables, spraybombed orange or something like that. And considering the guy was on PX18s earlier, and turntables now, it sounds like they're reinstating them. He also said that the Rossi rep had mentioned that they are coming back, with alleged wide brakes too.

I realize that skier hold onto old shit, and can get NIB stuff, but everything is pointing in the direction that they'll once again be out next year.

Many, many freeskiers are still on turntables. Pro's and weekend warriors alike.

Pro halfpipe in PX18's? A 7+ lb binding? Nooo. I'm sure some pros tried the PX's and went right back to the turntables...

Yes, a lot of pros have been on turntables in the past, but they are non-Rossi riders. Rossignol has had their riders on the PX heels until last night.

I hope this means they are coming back but I have seen lots of pros using Turntable bindings after they went out of production.

As said above, the Mold for the Extruded Metal heel is dead and no more can be bade until a new mold is finished. that means a whole new redesign. I have heard with great certainty that they are coming back, but it will be another year before they are on the market.

Lots and Lots of pros had turntables in reserve when they stopped making these a few years ago... I still see Rossi guys on the WC with these bindings (Ligety), and by no means were they recently produced.

Ha -- so that was Ian I saw a few days past up here. Can't imagine anyone else with spraybombed bright orange turntables. They looked like old tts mind you. They also looked to be all metal.

does Ian have long-ass shaggy hair? I was in whistler and saw somebody, who I can only assume to be a Rossi rider, carrying next years s7's with bright, neon orange bindings that appeared to be turntables. They may be spraybombed, but honestly they looked too new and neat from my view....Maybe I didn't get a long enough glance but it definitely caught my attention and it definitely looked like a turntable heel piece.

Yeah I've seen the bright orange turntables kicking around Whistler as well. I am 99% sure they are the newest version (or new version?) of the FKS, not one of the older geze toe or tt09 versions.

Not sure about the race team, but the freeride/freeski rossi team has been stuck on PXs until recently.

I've heard mid-winter next season as the release to the public date-

Not true, andreas hatveit (now on atomic) used fks while he was on rossi the past few years. I really do hope they are coming back but I dont think this picture confirms anything.

Pics don't confirm anything. I had a conversation with Ian about it last mid-Sept. He said no, and that he liked the new PX bindings. I guess things could have changed, but some dude on TV with them doesn't really say anything.

For instance, Sarah Burke was on a PX15 at X Games last year and popped a ski twice in situation she shouldn't have (she skied away without her ski). She still won, but her bindings weren't helping her at all. Then this year, she's on an old turntable binding. I have to think they dug some up for her comp skis, because in X Games there's a bunch of money on the line, not that they are coming back.

I have had p18s/ZRS/fks on everything for the last 8-9 years, but given wear and tear and the fact that I still work in a shop for a reason, and the fact that after bending everyone else's brakes for a living I have no patience to do for myself (not to mention the time), I bought two pairs of PX15s last week.

How the hell do you get them off your feet! I broke both tips off my poles the first day and resorted to STOMPING on the heel piece with my ski (absolute taboo for someone who tunes skis). I definitely looked like a SUPER gaper at the tram dock every time! Not casual, not stylish, just straight up struggling.

I would like to see the turntable come back, though with a variety of brake widths- I ain't got all day to deal with that bending shit!

On the other hand I like that the PX is heavy, nothing like handing your setup to weight weenies and enjoying the look on their faces, lift served is strictly a gravity sport, what the hell does weight matter? Flex the ski, capture the rebound, repeat!

I think the beer is getting to me.
