A Couple shots from Beaver Creek yesterday

BC was sick yesterday and my Praxi kept me off the rocks. Even in the side country.

I don't hang out much here anymore cause I'm a workaholic loser. But, figured I'd share some stoke to make up for the fact that I'm just a gear swap whore now. Pics are of me taken by my buddy.

    Almost looks like mid-season!

Forgive me in advance if my assumptions are incorrect, but...

'sidecountry' + no gear + current stability = not the best plan
I've got more suits than Liberace, but less than Eastvailhucker.

Only took one short run on the outside cause it was so good inbounds. Pretty much immediately outside of the cinch gate. Of course, we didn't dig a pit or anything. But no womphing, cracking or slough to speak of. We didn't really venture out of the trees though.

No man, my coat has a recco reflector plus I had my studfinder in my pocket...not to mention the fact that I'm invincible.

    Nice shots.

    How was the coverage?

    Are Stone Creek chutes open?

Royal Elk Glade on Grouse open?

That is $$. How does coverage look up on Baldy? I'm sure it's unstable right now, but those pics get the imagination rollin...

Stone Creek & Royal Elk were both closed.

The coverage was surprisingly good. In the trees, saplings, logs and debris presented a problem at times. But as far as rocks, I only got a few scratches. Consider the fact that I'm on 195 Praxis and I try not to worry much about my bases. The snow was fairly heavy and seemed to be doing a good job of setting up.

stone creek is not open, threw about 80 shots in there today, but it is still pretty bony. royal elk had some slide activity, and has been really tender, but may open after the next storm. Dont poach, mo mercy for poachers, especcially when there are bombs out there!

define, "poach" if i'm not coming back in patrol has nothing to say about it?? I'm not saying, I'm asking, these rules have gotten so damn confusing, i don't know when i'm "sidecountry" skiing and when I'm "poaching" and looking at an $800 ticket anymore...

I define sidecountry as a subset of backcountry that involves little to no touring and allows the majority of the vert to be earned on a lift. It's not poaching if you leave through a GATE and make sure you re-enter on an OPEN trail. Don't duck ropes. Don't use the woods to enter a trail roped off from above pretending like you didn't know it was closed. Doesn't seem too complicated to me.

Hmm, I'm thinking about going to the beav tomorrow. Their site says Royal Elk is open, but I guess we know how reliable that info is.

Was Grouse all bumped up from the weekend, or has it softened up since the new snow? I'm thinking there or Vail tomorrow...

grouse was pretty bumped up but we only took a run on it. lapped rose bowl for a while hopping they would open stone creek. was pretty damn fun in the morning. NOAA says 6-12 by morning and it was on and off snowing all day. Seemed like it was going to be much lighter than the cream cheese of monday

Thanks man. We got rid of the trailer...just bought a house in Golden. It was too much $. Especially during the summer and deadbeat friends who are all about having a trailer until it's time to actually pay up. But, I'll still be up plenty this season. I'll give you a ring next year...Goin to Tahoe for Christmas! (Thank God it started snowing there!)
