TR: VTah (aka Stowe opening weekend / lotsa pics)

I believe Stowe had 5 open trails or something like that to start off the season. Not sure on the acreage, but the depth and lightness of the powder was pretty good on the closed trails too. Now there has been a comment here and a jab there to the effect of "we had some good skiing, but we didn't slut for the camera", "i'm sure the powder was nice, but how about those rocks underneath"... well Satruday pretty much was as good as the pictures look. No slutting (except for allen for one second) was done.

Sunday I make no claims about the accuracy of the reportage contained herein, but also make no apology. you all come here for ski pron, so here it is.

there are alot of pics here. if you want to complain about too many pics, please take a number and i'll get back to you when you've realized it's not my problem. for the rest of you: enjoi!

    Saturday 11.22.2008 (Opening Day)

I had this feeling when we woke up in our state capital, and there as a good snow on the cars, and the little flakes falling out of the sky. This shouldn't be happening according to the forecast. I instantly said to K_C "the stowe multiplier shall brings smiles to our faces today"... okay maybe not that dramatic, but i was definitely psyched to see snow outside.

after a run or two with phall and jtran, we decided to grab the rock boards and go exploring. i could tell there was deliciousness somewhere on the mtn.

I'll stop talking, and give you what you clicked for...
    K_C

    yours truly

i really think there should be more super happy fun time pics of skiing... we're all to serious about how much damn fun this sport is!

The shot from the roll call thread

At this point we just couldn't believe it... so light... so dry... you might thing you were in a state whose postal code looks alot like ours (hint: wasangeles is the biggest city there). In fact there is maybe no reason you should believe it either, so here are a few sequences that will prove this skiing was not just for show on saturday... it was that good.

then we ran into Allentaylor, bcben & a gang of d'mouth students

also this guy from jackson knew how to ski... so fast i couldn't really get more than a shot... shout out to this guy though... really could rip

AT thought the groomers were ripping and wanted to stick to them, but we convinced him to join us

he may have dipped his hip and raised his hand here... hard to tell though if he maybe was just genuinely gasping for air

some tele dude got really deep

then ben decided to take his turn. i dont know how he didn't get a single face shot on those skinny tele skis...

    dartmouth girl (dianna?)

picnic table stoke (not that this TR needed any artificial means of stoke yet)

to continue with sunday in the next post...

    Sunday 11.23.2008 (not sloppy seconds)
Sam finally decided to show up. Wes got out his rock boards too. I'd make fun of them, but i'm gonna hear and see about some epictacular stuff when they take their big trip in about a month and i'm computing integrals in the stowe base lodge...

first few runs were fun in the sun.

    K_C got hers

    still plenty left!

next we ran into the boys, and hiked a long way to find out we wasted our time. the top few hundred vertical feet were wind blown rock... it had apparently been $$$ the day before, but by the time we got to it, it was gone.

the boys new how to make the best of a bad situation though... (get some napkins handy...)

    Wes

Allen (dude, one more shot like this, and you're off the team.. K? OK?! thxbi)

    Ben (whatcha looking at dude?)

Sam (won the contest---also won 5$ off me betting on a long field goal attempt in the Giants game later that night... the focker snubbed it too, so i didn't even get my money's worth by enjoying giving the ball body english... what a waste.. oh well at least this picture makes me smile)

We bid adieu to the boys, and headed out for one final run b4 grabbing some food and going to watch the game. I decided I wasn't gonna let those boys have the last word (er... faceshot), and K_C grabbed the cam for this one. woof

oh my was this a fun turn

A parting shot of our favorite mountain

    thanks for looking,
    GP

Last few pics in your first post are missing.

Also, Sam and AT could make a living shooting pics of the day for Jay, then everyone could get off their marketing dept's case for sending freeheelers out to induce face shots. You two are the kings of smearing the shin deep (and less).

I bailed at 10:30ish due to a bullshit hip injury, still a great day, only thing missing was a huck or two...
