Quick hit: What size Kuro's

Working on finding some Kuro's.

I'm 5'8 185.

I know some skis, ski shorter or longer and with other skis,

175 or 186.

164-132-139.....

this would probably be a no brainer for some other skis....but I don't know much about the effective edge on the kuro.

I'm looking 186. anyone disagree?

this is a no brainer with th KURO! rockered skis ski shorter than their indicated length. period. and the million dollar question: is the kuro rockered? you bet your sweet ass!!!

go 185... ESPECIALLY at your size

^^^ Agreed. Volkls run wicked short to begin with. The 175 probably skis super small. Go 185.

I've only used the 185s, so obviously I'm guessing about some of this. But I'd say at your weight - it depends. Where are you going to use them? Out in the open or in tight trees? Is your usual speed fast or slow? Carry a heavy pack?...

I'm not sure that rocker is the only element in the "skis short vs skis long" equation. Sidecut seems, at least to me, to come into play as well. For example, IMO the Praxis skis a ton "shorter" than the Kuro.

The Kuros are going to have a ton of "float" - as in 10 cm is meaningless in that regard. So it boils down to trading off things like stability & platform vs nimbleness. If you are going to be in the trees or smaller/tighter paces, consider the 175. Bigger lines out in the open, maybe favor the 185. Really fast out in the open, moreso toward the bigger one...

I'm 220 pounds and a middle of the road skier. I did about 10 days on 185 Kuros last season. For comparison, I got in roughly twenty on Praxis (mostly 195), twenty on Hell Bents(179 & 189), eight on Pontoons... Maybe if they made a 195 Kuro I'd fall in love with it - but I have not felt the 185 to be inadequate when I've used it.

I've been away for a while. It's nice to be back.

185. Nimble as shit. I wish they made a 195 or 200, I'd be all over that, they're too short for me.

yeah 185 it is. just waiting for some pricing to come back. I was sold on the bibby pros for a while, but after reading around, theres just no reason not to go fucking huge....I mean if your gonna fuck a fat chick, you might as well do it right, i'll use my bridges on shit days.....other skis that ill consider if i cant get pricing on kuros....black diamond mega watt....thugs

if i end up with something a little narrower, JJvsJP or bibby pros.

really hope the kuros come through because both reviews on epicski (i know THAT OTHER FORUM) have been sick, plus when i was starting the "looking for a powder ski, newb p'ownage thread"....a bunch of people raved about the kuros and how nimble and amazing they ski....I quote one TGR' er..."they ski like a 110"....fucking psyched.
