TR: hilux toyota truck, and pop top camper

This is a right hand drive, 88, toyota hilux. 4 dr, 4wd, 2.4 diesel in it. I've had it for about 4 years now, and have wanted a camper for a while, but the falcon was too small, eagle too large (too much overhang), and ordering out of the states is a pain etc.
Then along came FWC canada, and the Finch

    Truck "nakid"

    attached, wired, etc

some of the backroads in Alberta, and BC. This is the marval pass area, back way into mnt assiniboin

camping spot for the first night

    back goes up

    front goes up

    butt goes down

well I have had it for a few months now, done a few more trips (transrockies bike race). mileage is down 20-30%. truck rides better (half ton) had a few issues, but Gary at FWC Canada has been great.
Just need to install a bike race for the spring, Ditching the table that came with it (using mine)

thanks for all the help, and ideas guys.

Have any inside pics? Especially with the top popped...
If some of the best times of my life were skiing the UP in -40 wind chill with nothing but jeans, cotton long johns and a wine flask to keep warm while sleeping in the back of my dad's van... does that make me old school?

    That setup is awesome.

What is the snow load rating for the top popped?

1000 pound load on the roof down. not sure on popped, and you sure can't lift it with that kind of load. Seen lots of them with Thule racks/boxes/boats etc.

Did you get into Marvel pass from Settler's Road and onto (Palliser? fire road)?

    FCKN awesome setup!

Probably like you guys I tent camped for many, many years but sure have enjoyed having my van and not having to set up camp all the time. Also nice to be up off the ground.

You guys need to come bush camping with me, Ted and his gang out at Burnt Timber or Waiporous. We have a blast and I ride my mountain bike while those guys go off and do their quadding.

Awesome. I'm glad you finally found something that fit the bill. That's a great setup, and the awning is a nice (and often overlooked during ordering) touch.

What does it weigh? Looks awesome though, a lot roomier than sleeping under a Leer cap.

FWC makes nice little popups. I'd given up looking for a Hawk for my 1/2T so, naturally, days after buying a bigger truck I saw this on Craigslist. No kitchen, fridge or cooktop but that's easy to add.

    snowburns -- around 700 - 800 pounds.

Did you import yourself (have a buyer overseas) or did you pick it up from a lot (the guys in the koots?)?

I'm kind of looking at taco's, the hilux might be a option as well...
