Smile TR: Les Deux Alpes ROAD TRIP!

08-08-08 Road trip to Les Deux Alpes France with McLovin, Geo039 and PeterK. It was teh raddness. PeterK shows off his swedish meatballs in the park. Vibes to PK (bruised but not broken). Some of the best riding of the year for everyone. Great to tear it up for 3 days straight!

    Wow! Awesome looking area.
My son and his buddies are there now and my only phone call from my son is he is bruised and battered but not broken. Wishing I was there too!

^^^some girls sunbathing on the ramp.

you can't roll onto it as it's about 4 feet off the ground. must be intentional to keep kids from doing something stupid.

portes du soleil and les deux alpes are by far the two leading resorts for DH biking. PDS has more trails (and more lift-linked resorts) but L2A has smoother nicer courses. Plus a big 2400m vertical.

thx for the pics. i'd like to ride LDA sometime.

whenever i hear those slowed-down vocals in the slomo of a crash video, it always reminds me of a butthole surfer's song.

Beautiful shots, Thx for sharing those. Hope PK is o.k.

But: having not been there for at least 12 years the glaciers almost vanished is a depressing sight.

    These two are simply stunning:

    I'm more or less OK

Some more bruises have appeared, ribs are still hurting a bit (especially when sneezing) and my right shoulder is not so happy... But things are moving in the right direction so I should be back on the bike reasonably soon. Fun to see the video, looks like I'm landing basically where Ripz is standing in the last photo that G put up. Lesson learned: Knowing the right speed before doing a drop is pretty important if you plan on hitting the landing.

Wow. That looks a blast. Did a similar gig with Mrs Roo back in 2003.

The park is good fun on the glacier, plus if you hike up top to the liaison with La Grave there are some steep shots overlooking the Veneon valley that hold snow.

    Thanks for digging that up

Shoulder and ribs are steadily improving. Not as fast as I would like to but not super slow either. Might be in for some Salève after work action late next week.
