    Wow... the part starting at 3:17 and on looks like an Indiana Jones movie! Some parts look like a sure death trap. Is interesting to think parts date back to 1901, before a practical automobile... Caminito del Rey

    Here is an early pic;

    Then in it's heyday;

    And what it's like now;

    If some of the best times of my life were skiing the UP in -40 wind chill with nothing but jeans, cotton long johns and a wine flask to keep warm while sleeping in the back of my dad's van... does that make me old school?

    Well now how in the fuck did I miss this earlier today?? The internet is a crazy place... I got that in my email today and just posted it. Now I see it's a re-run, but isn't it amazing the way things travel by email? How often do you get the same damn forward, the same day, from two completely unrelated people you know?

    Anyway... that's some crazy shit.

    Holy shit. Thats core.

    Reason #19928 I am not a climber. Still can't figure out why I am more comfortable above big drops if I have skis on my feet.

    I posted it on a climbing site I hit when the going gets warm (supertopo.com).

    It's definitely making the rounds today. It was on epicski and reposted on supertopo.

    Still a sweet video.

    Apparently it's been closed by the guberment for a few years because of 4 deaths one year. Still, people find a way to get on it. You know that would never work here.

    Duct, there's some remnants of a walkway like that in Eaton Canyon in 'Dena. The big difference of course is that it isn't necessary in Eaton. Still, it's kinda cool.

    I would rather run with scissors in my hand than walk that with my shoelaces untied.

    I know the pic is huge, but here's a pic of the start of the trail. The powers that be decided that the best way to keep people off the trail was to destroy the first section.

    "Reason #19928 I am not a climber. Still can't figure out why I am more comfortable above big drops if I have skis on my feet. " second that, I would get dizzy and fall off that shit.

    I have no problem dropping big airs, but can't look down the side off a building.

    Completely agree. Exposure in the summer scares me way more than in the winter.

    Gnarly ass trail! Where in Spain?

    It's about 55km inland from Malaga on the Costa del Sol (Southern Coast). Very quiet spot tucked away in the hills.

    Closed to the public.

    Not available to the public.

    Too fast for the public.

    To dangerous for the public.

    I don't think Roo is very familiar with any of these phrases.

    Offically yes...

    But it is still used daily by climbers to access great climbing.

    Basically the authorities wrecked the 1st 20 or so meters of the path... But there is still enough holds below the wrecked path for an exposed scramble / via-ferrata... I think there might have been even a few iron stakes placed by climbers to make it easier...

    So yeah, if you want to have a go at it... it's still possible (and the police won't stop ya), but it won't be safe... Oh, the only thing the police doesn't really like, is if you use the narrow train tunnel to access the (climbing) goods on the pathway... as the tunnel is used almost daily by freight trains.

    OK, I posted a little picture TR. [ame="http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=169796"]The Caminito del Rey (a TR) - Teton Gravity Research Forums[/ame]

    The access IS a little gnarly but it's unlikely you'll be hit by a train and the place is so remote, I wouldn't like to guess how far away the nearest policeman would be.
