TR: North Face of Chipman Peak, Wasatch
Departed White Pine trail head around 6:30AM with partner Sam. Headed up Red Pine towards the Pfeiferhorn. Our route took us under the south face of the Pfeif in order to access Chipman Peak. We skied the north face of the col between the Pfeif and Chipman as well as another short north facing run on Chipman. Exited Hogum Fork, which sucked a bit, but high clouds prevented the warming we feared could occur so we luckily didn't have to contend with any wet snow slides. Crossed the creek, back at the car around 1:00PM.

Dawn

Sam on the highway.

Gaining the ridge. Box Elder Peak near, Timp far.

Signs of a spinning Earth.

The Essentials

Lightning Ridge from the summit of Chipman Peak.

Samsurf

Headed up for another with Thunder Ridge for our screensaver.

Sam again. Hogum below, and the Broad's Fork Twins across.

We leave traces.

One last look up.

The author, realizing there aren't any picture of himself, snaps a quick one.

Exit spice.
Tune in next time....

That ramp doesn't even look as filled in as last year. Or is that my imagination? You have any pics for comparison, TH?

Apparently it isn't Chipman. See this picture from the south:
Chipman is the far left peak, the Pfeif on the right, and we skied the bump in the middle. Looking at some maps last night I didn't even see it named. But I swear I've seen it labeled at Chipman somewhere.

Yeah, I thought it was Chimpan's too, but I think it's actually the West Shoulder of the Pfeiff or something.
But hey, it's still a good ski with asthetic lines.
