Broken Foot

Did a number on my foot on Tuesday. 4 Broken metacarpals, but I don't think any ligament damage. Heard the thing crack in half after stomping from about 20 feet up to my feet on uneven ground (this was on a bike not skis). Classic "Liz Frank" fracture whatever that means.

Looks like I am out for 6-8 weeks .

Now that that ugly heckling business is out of the way:

That sucks dude and I'm sorry to hear of your annual brokeness occuring before the season is even sort of over. You'll probably be out for Cinquo de Pow pow even

on the bright side, at least it isn't your wrist so you can still pull your pud.

it's lisfranc and it sucks.
I had a lisfranc sprain a few years ago and it sucked. Make sure to wear a brace after you heal. Your foot will be loosey-goosey for a while afterwards.

lisfranc fractures can be pretty nasty, be sure to do as you are told as far as crutches, boot, rehab etc.... 6-8 wks for the fracture to heal plus recovery/rehab time. maybe ask seom timeframe questions at your next ortho visit.

Couple pics to add:

The pic below is from a few days ago but I am still really swollen. I should be getting hooked up with a loaner icing machine tonight. I have been moving my ankle around a little in the bath, and it feels fine. Very stiff from not moving it for a week but that's expected.

I haven't put any weight on it since it happened, and just ordered one of these: http://www.iwalk-free.com/ so at least I'll be able to move around and use my hands.

Yeah, 3rd got especially crunched. I think I heard that one break. So far they think I am straight on ligament damage. My ankle was fully mobile at the time of x-ray and it still doesn't hurt to move it (just feels wrong to do so). They took CT scans and basically my doc says he couldn't really make it any better by being in there poking around.

I am not totally sure how it happened. Toeing the landing is most likely it but it's also possible that I landed on something very uneven (foot half on/off a table top).

Jeez hev! The bike likes to bite you too much! Maybe you should convert back to skiing

In all seriousness, hope you heal up soon

Dammit y'all! I blew a trivia question at the bar last night cuz metacarpals are in the the HAND, not the foot. You broke yer metatarsals. Lol.
Well I had to blame someone.

That somehow looks seriously painful. How long will you have to be off of it?

Heal up!

Is there an open wound someplace? Do not mess around with infection. Repeat that. I hope u've been to see the Dr.

I spent 3 days in the hospital from an infection in my knee after an aclr, blissfully unaware of how much danger I was in.

My infection is getting better quickly with antibiotics and the pain and swelling have gone down a bunch since last week. I have no idea how it happened. No real open wounds, but doc said there was a lot of blood pooled in my foot. An ideal culture for bacteria easily defended elsewhere in my body, so it was probably something already in my blood stream.

X-rays came out killer this time (pun intended). I am taking pictures of the xray with my phone so they're not THAT great.
