Exclamation OK to hang skis like this?

Wife bought this for me at REI this weekend, will this be ok? seems to want to flatten the tips out? skis are mounted with Naxos so there is a lot of weight on theose tips.
Thoughts? advice?
Thanks.

No problem. You need A LOT more force to change the camber or tip of a ski. If you put a piece of thick tubing on each metal stick you will reduce the force applied to the camber. Not that it will make any difference, but it will make you feel better.

lower?

I've stayed against hanging them like that just for that reason. if you think of how much abuse we put into our sticks though, hanging like that probably isn't going to hurt them that much; however, it certainly isn't going to help them...

how about mounting that rack down 2 ft and hang them off the bindings? would your naxos still fit?

heh, I put up the same ski rack a couple of weeks ago, it's sweet to finally have them hanging.

I'm not worrying about the tips.

As long as you don't stare at them, they will be fine. Staring at skis decambers them.

Solved it, after staring at them a while I decided to try a ski strap and then hanging them from below the strap thus taking pressure off the tips, problem solved.

it won't hurt your boards. it would take much more force/pressure over a huge time.

This is a good thread. I agree with shred, rack is bad, all those skis are ruined. I'll give you $20 for the lot.

Squirrelmurphy built one like that and four of our six (9?) pairs are hanging in the bedroom. I haven't noticed any adverse effects...

You could always get something like this instead, they hang by the binding, but still lock the brakes:

or

I don't think they sell any of the killer gear, but they've got racks racorinc.com

okbye
