Mammoth Freeride World Tour, Jan 2008
This thread could use some more info on what happened in the last two days which included the Open and day 1 of the Quest.
But I just got a call from a buddy out there who is reporting back on run 1/2 of the final day of Quest. Don't have all the info so fill in the blanks if you can but...
1. Cody Townsend
2. A swede?
3. A Yankee?
4. ?
5. Griffin Post
.
.
.
9. Kevin O'meara
Will report back when I hear the run 2 (final) results.
Go get 'em Cody!!

just got a call from Jamie Blair who missed the cut yesterday by .01 of a point (damn buddy!). He said the level of skiing today was just off the charts and said that Cody's lines were just unbelievable. Something about a 30 - 40 ft heli stomping the landing above exposure and then some fast turns to more huge air. That was run 1 .... run 2 was just as bad ass apparaently.
Way to f-ing kill it Cody!!!
Can't wait see the vids from today.
There is a vid from yesterday's Day 1 of the Quest on the homepage here:

I watched those videos and it looked like just a contest to see who could break the most bones. Not many staying on their feet.

Ouch. Competing in those conditions reminds me of the egg-eating contest in Cool Hand Luke. You have to respect how hard it is, but it sure doesn't look fun.

The conditions look rough. The front flip on the monoski made me smile and those red bro's are money.

The last crash of the second video there says it all. That dude went head first off that drop and still managed to get back on two feet. Ouch...

The whole contest was good time, the guy in the chute in those photos is me, its too bad I decided to ski like a pussy in finals and fall twice. The overall level of riding was much higher than I expected, and I would like to give credit to the three that advanced to next week, they all shredded super hard. For how short the venues were, I was really impressed with what everyone was able to come up with for creative lines, and how well everyone was able to stomp some really flat landings.
