    Cheezy East Coast openings

The title says it all. What do you guys thing about some eastern mountains (Sugarloaf in particular) opening with just patches of snow here and there that aren't even linked together (yet they're calling it 1700 vert?!!?), while other places like Mount Snow (which have up to 8 feet of base depth in some places) are not opening until tommorow in order to give skiers a half decent surface to ski on top to bottom. I think it's cheezy charging for crap conditions like Sugarloaf had today and in essence cheating when it comes to the opening day race.

Sugar Mountain, NC is open. Or, at least it was a couple of days ago.

With forecasts all above freezing and getting up near 60 degrees, I think it

    takes the cheezy title.

New Owners, bad starts previous years, they're just coming out swinging this year and I'm sorry but I find it a hard thing to complain about.

...and no downloading in VT's southernmost resort.
    that's awesome, actually.
it's the $72 dollar lift ticket (and the miles of liftlines) that will keep me away...

I'll still be doing most of my skiing there mid-week but I have a feeling that w/o the ASC all east pass it won't be as crowded there.

8'? I think not son. Even their website doesn't claim 8 feet of base.

As of Thursday afternoon I would say probably 3 feet of base at the top at the most. I'm pretty sure they've been blowing non stop, 24x7 since then though so it's got to be getting pretty deep.

There is nothing cheezy about a ski area opening. Chances are you have a pass somewhere anyways.
Just ski down there and jump of a somethin' fer cryin' out loud!

Relax bro, it isn't even mid November, the storms will start rolling in shortly. All is well. It's a Montana thing.

BTW, if you're going to be envious, look to Baker or Utah, not some pile of man made ice that will be melting about the time we get pummeled.

I said in places...not the whole trail. They've got some pretty huge whales from there fan guns...

    Mount Friday....still preparing :

P.S: This photo is from their website and it actually has the caption "8 feet of depth" with it. That's not even where I came up with the number...I was watching their video and saw some places that made me say to myself "now that's gotta be 8-10 feet deep!"

    Sugarloaf Friday, Open :

Does that look legitimately open?? I think not.

You guys are kidding me right??? Cheeeeezy

its the no early season deals that will keep me away! i remember sking k-mart in early oct in the late 90's for $20 buck, and it was the best day of skiing i have ever had there. $72 bones for canyon quad, mt. slow can kiss my ass, i'll let the nyc joeys keep that place above water, i would rather hike somewhere decent, or keep riding the bike for a few weekends.

that said, to each their own.

^^^ I agree, the tickets should be less, but that said, I rarely go until around x-mas... too little snow, too many people and too high a price.

It's only $50 bucks until they get fully open. Sucks you didn't make it to the TGR premier, people were buying +4 tickets each at $15 per day. The girl selling them didn't care how many you bought.

Actually I think it fucking rules that the Loaf opened with such thin cover. I think I might get up there next weekend for the can drive thingy ($20 or so ticket if you bring 3 cans of food). Looking at the pics of Mount Snow it looks like those fuckers could have been spinning the lifts days ago.

Also both of those pics of the Loaf are from Boardwalk/Lower winters. I believe they had Sluice open from the top of shortside which is a legitimate 1000 vert. Long story short, quit bitching and go ski, JONG

It's becouse the girl knew how much mt.snow blows, and knew the only way real skiers were gonna show their face there is if they practiclly gave them away. Pass holders should be casterated for not keeping christmas green at their local ski area.
