Icelantic 08/09 Line Up (with pics)

    Here's the 08/09 line up:

    Scout: same 143cm length
    Pilgrim: same 151cm & 169cm lengths plus a new 179cm
    Nomad: same 156cm & 168cm lengths plus a new 181cm
    Shaman: same 161cm & 173cm lengths plus new 184cm

Superb quality graphics as usual from Icelantic. I wasn't sure of the design at first compared to last year but they've really grown on me in the last week or two. And they look even better on the skis than in the pic.

Icelantic are saying the dimensions are the same as last year. I sell Icelantic's in the UK but we only have demos at the moment in the new longer lengths. The longer Pilgrim & the longer Shaman are the same but the 181cm Nomad that I have is 112mm underfoot versus the 105mm of the 151 & 169 lengths so this could get tweaked for the final production.

    hey, they listened to me!

when i met the Icelantic guys last season at an end of season/Spring demo day at Loveland I took out both the Nomad and Shaman.

I told 'em if they made 'em in like a 177/178/180 range I'd totally be into 'em.

    sweet!

I bet you're the only person who's told them they should make longer skis

    Dookey,

I'm curious which did you like better between the Nomad and the Shaman?

    tough call.

but i'd have to say the Shaman.

    it was more stable.

the only thing about it i didn't like was the massive shovel. the day i demoed them at Loveland last season it was all windbuff off of 8. they railed that. where i got into trouble was hitting death cookies and iced moguls on the way back down to the lodge. the massive shovels were clumsy, to say the least, on harder snow.

i really liked the shape of the Nomad, but it was skittish.

my suggestion to them was to make a cross-breed of the two. Something with more of a Nomad shape, but the same dimensions of the Shaman and in about 178/180 length.

these pix make it look as if they may have trimmed the shovel down on the Shaman a bit.

as for the graphics, i thought they looked eviler (i.e. darker in tone) this time around. more malevolent.

Will make it easier to tell Who could be skiing a long length. but choose a short ski.

I think their graphics are pretty smart. Market to the 8 million world of warcraft users out there.

The denoli is 88 underfoot and I believe its symertircal as well.
If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

Seems to me like they sold out by making regular sized skis. Not that I like the short ones.

    shaman hands down.

in the EC BC you need/want the tip float to clear logfall

oh, and I must be getting old since I find the new graphics fugly and too busy.
Reminds me of Hendrix Axis Bold as Love, though.

Probably been addressed before but any good EC places to demo Icelantics?
On a related side note, I've already promised myself to only spend 300$ of my Bush Rewards Value Card on skis this year.

EMS in Concord, NH and North Conway have AT Demo's of the Nomad and Pilgrim that I am aware of.
Kind of intrigued by the Da'Noille
