Yeah.......I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

My asshole step father is an artist, perhaps you've heard of him. Anyway, he built his brand starting in the Army, then taught HS art, traveled the world, and was making six figures on art selling between 2-5k a piece at his peak.
But this guy was a straight up Hustler. You have to be to make it as an artist. He calls them "sponsors". Working with the galleries, sucking up to people who will blow that kind of money on art. Now he steals from my mother, I hate him.
You can never escape that bullshit, not in most jobs.
Sorry.

It's fine. For my untrained eye, she should have more layers to properly cover the canvas in the sky.
If she has the time and you have the money, have her take some classes at a local university or art club. And look for community art markets to sell her work. Established groups or programs generally have better access and the advantage of numbers for these types of events.

Would you buy this?
It's one of the best of its style. https://www.google.com/amp/twistedsi...id-irvine/amp/
This is the art people would buy.
Also art is easy and cheap to make yourself or order online
Your wife needs an edge. I mean she painted a fogged out picture of the grand Teton ? Why?
There's no passion or creativity in this painting. Sorry. Digitaldeath says u lack passion in ur art. Sorry.Zone Controller

She needs practice and especially some work on her skies/fine contrast. Also use of space is unrefined, color choices need some adjustment to make contrast pop and her fine detail is lacking. Practice practice practice. If she's truly passionate, great, but she needs focused training.
Look up this dude, seems to know what he's doing around training - https://medium.com/@noahbradley/how-...56c#.2kmgff234

Art major here.
So here is my 2 cents.
It's really, really hard to make it as a (full-time) artist.
It's not easy to sell a piece of art for hundreds and thousands of dollars.
You have to be a brilliant, talented and unique individual or produce what people want.
These are couple of current artists I like.
Donald Robertson.
Fashion illustrator but he is capable of wonderful abstract.
His work's used for vogue, fashion designer's fabric, cosmetic package... etc.
Bradley Theodore.
Graffiti artist turn into painter.
Banksy, of course.
Vedran Misic.
Love his portraits.
As you can see all of them have their unique style that no one else has it.
Unknown artist.
Some rich people will easily pay a lot of money to hang it at their winter house.
My point is.
Unless you are so talented and can't hide the talent,
you have to set a realistic goal and be happy with it.
Either way, it's not gonna be easy.
But you said money isn't a problem, so let her do what she wants to do and just don't expect much back (financially).Last edited by nutmegchoi; 03-20-2017 at 07:53 PM.

For her work.
There's no point talking about the potential sale.
She needs a whole lot more practice, classes/lessons and soul search as an artist.
She doesn't have her own persona yet.
People buy art because it portraits the artist and they associate with the piece.
She doesn't have a personality as an artist yet.
That'll come months or years later.Last edited by nutmegchoi; 03-20-2017 at 07:53 PM.

This guy is a local here in W2 - has a gallery downtown. LOVE his work. He paints local stuff and his work sells well.

I also like Lynn Toneri (water colors) She used to have a gallery in Sun Valley where I would buy pieces from her but now has a gallery in Sedona. I have this one:

I haven't painted forever.
I did couple small portraits for BF (his late grandmother and father), but that's about it.
I majored fine arts (painting), but I knew it wasn't going to pay my bills.
I'm an okay painter, but not outstanding enough to make a living (at least not the level I would like to live).
I end up choosing commercial art for a career instead.
UI (User Interface) design and architectural drawings.
Pretty much anything relate to graphic design.
