Smile A-basin Today (pics of Lone Star and I)

This post is in anticipation of the upcoming CO Mini-Summit. Since I am relatively sure that people have stopped checking for updates…

If anyone needs a place to crash, I have an extra room with 4 bunks, a foldout, and floor space too. *Everyone* is welcome!

0800 at Molly Hogan... but seriously...

I think we should settle on a meeting time? Lifts start at 0830 and the mtn might not thaw out until at least 0900 or 0930 I think.
04-5-6 I skied with Lone Star at A-Basin today… the conditions were pretty good in the morning… nice soft snow that made great bump skiing. Towards closing, it got to be a bit slushy and the bumps where exhibiting “collapsing trough syndrome.”

East Wall was closed all day. We blasted Pali several times and hit the terrain park. Lone Star threw clean 3’s (I am impressed by anything I want to do but can’t/haven’t). I saw my friend Chris (not from the TRs) who threw a sick underflip and stuck it. At least two people threw Misty 7s. Some old lady skiing in a dress and rental skis/boots said she hadn’t skied in 5 years threw a spread and skied around switch. It was very fun gawking day. There were plenty of scantily clad females as it was so warm out.

Lone Star and I had some fun jumping cornices and sketchy rock/tree type things… nothing was over 10ft but it was still fun as all get out since the snow as soft and mushy in the landings. We took some time to photo it all using Lone Star’s camera (I forgot mine, no M).

Lone Star offered to shoot me. I jumped (har har but I can’t think of a better word this late at night) at that because I am rarely on the front side of the lens. Thank you, Lone Star!

Do I have style or what? Gotta work on that…

Afterwards we had a beer and headed off. It was a great day. I would ski with Lone Star any time.

PS… skiing for 6+ hours @ A-Basin with no sunscreen… this must be one of the worst sunburns I’ve ever had… I’m pinker than a salmon.

CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS CO-MINI! SEE YOU ALL THERE!

had a great time with ya yesterday... should be a fun time this weekend! hopefully the weather will be kind to us and freeze things up real good tonight so the east wall is open.

when does everybody want to meet up? doesn't really matter to me, but with this warm weather we've been having a relatively early start probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hey, Summit - I recommend you wear gloves (even spring gloves or light leather work gloves) when skiing, especially in corn. You fall and that shit can cut your hands to ribbons, (and you look like a JONG.)

I was tired. I forgot the sunscreen, chapstick, camera, wallet, cellphone, pager... I forgot to put the top on my contact container... and I forgot my gloves

However... I wasn't too worried given that I still look like a JONG when I have my gloves on.

Whoa you guys, I'm so sorry! I have comp passes, and I completely forgot to offer any!!

I think I have 5 or 6. If anyone needs them, let me know and I'll leave them for you somewhere before I go on my opening.

edit: what day is this taking place again? I need to know which day to leave the comps.

Again, I don't know how much time I will have to do actual skiing, depends on how much mountain work needs to be done and how many idiots decide to smack into each other. I will try and catch up with you guys when I can though.

    Thanks you, Tippster.
My pleasure... what a douchebag. Those Aliases (alii?) really bore the crap out of me.

As far as the gear goes - hey, at least you were skiing. I'm sitting here in my attic sweating in 80+ deg. humidity whilst a spring thunderboomer is raging outside.

We'll work on the sunglasses on nose w/goggles on forehead thing next week...

Nice TR Summit. Looked like a great day out there.

Skiing w/o gloves is JONG-ish under every circumstance.
