~1700 grams for dedicated touring? meh.
ST w/o brakes ~ 450g.
Duke/Baron do their thing fine, but their thing isn't being light.

I just looked at the updated Marker site- the roughly 1700g weight we've been hearing about is without brakes. Maybe the brakes don't add a million grams, but honest to christ, what is the point in telling us the weight without brakes? Anybody planning on skiing these without brakes? No, I didn't think so.
Honestly, WTF?
Most of the weight savings seem to have been made with a new heel piece and new climbing bar. This should make a pretty significant difference when skinning (over the duke/baron). I know a number of lighter skiers who don't want the heavy weight of a duke/baron but do want a touring binding that can handle resort days.
This seems to be the ticket.

Yeah, but now factor in the brakes at 150grams per ski (I think that's a very conservative guess) and you're at 2050 to 2100 grams for the pair which only shaves about 150grams per ski vs Barons.
Duke 110mm brake tips the scales at 150.9 grams (nice guess Johnny) and looks like the brake they will be using on the F10 and F12.
Weights for large per pair with 110mm brakes:
Marker Duke.................5.80 lbs
Marker Baron................5.47 lbs
Marker F12...................4.60 lbs
Marker F10...................4.45 lbs
Dynafit FT 12................2.38 lbs

To add to that ^^^
Fritschi FR+ ..................4.51 lbs
Naxo NX21 ...................5.25 lbs
(weights off of wild snow - I think including brakes)
And Toast has made the point. This is a Fritschi competitor. Not a Dynafit.
Hey Squaretail,
Does the new AFD on the F12 fit on the Duke/Baron? Will this be the warranty replacement for current Dukes? Would you replace one or both?
The leather strap used to switch from locked heel to touring mode looks VERY flimsy to me. It will be necessary not only to remove your skis to put the skis into touring mode, but you will also need to remove your glove to fit your finger thru the smallish leather loop. IMHO: Weak effort
I'd rather ski freerides.

You only remove the medal part of the F10, F12 brake, so it's a bit less than the 150grams.
That being said, I'm not sure why the widest brake available is only 92mm. And I still think these will blow the frischi's out of the water, and weigh less.

Anybody know if/when that skitrab thing is coming out ? weight ? specs ? dynafit boot insert compatible or not ? also is FT12 making any improvements next winter (paging lou dawson) ? Any chance they could push those little pins to be a smidge more durable ? really wanna touring setup that I can thrash inbounds and then go skin 8000 feet the next day without worrying about it in either situation (like everybody)
Tour lever held by two pins in single shear through plastic = will develop fore-aft slop just like Dukes = FAIL
I've done a bit of skiing on some Marker Tour 12s in the last few weeks and I've been really impressed. I think they ski much better than Fritschi's and are noticeably lighter. I'm a pretty light guy but I could see myself using these for my everyday inbounds/slackcountry binding.
I'm thinking that next season I'll have one pair of skis with Dynafits and the rest will have Marker Tour 12s.
Yes, you have to take the skis off to switch modes but I think it's worth it for the improved downhill performance.
My question: will the Tours meet DIN ISO 13992?
The Dukes don't -- probably because of the AFD design.
See thread here.
I don't understand why everyone bitches about the lock being under the boots. Don't you take your skis off to take your skins off anyway? Not really a big deal. Especially when it's way the hell better than flimsy ass Fritschis or Naxos.
I ski on freerides and Dynafits. On rare occasions when I am skiing out of some area on Dynafits, I am jealous of my friends on freeride bindings ability to change to walk. On the other hand, I often need to remove my ski (with freerides) to chip out the packed in snow and ice where the lock mechanism is. I think the position of the Marker walk/tour lever is not that great of an inconvenience. Most of my tours are steep up and down, with not too much rolling terrain. My freerides have developed a lot of slop, so I might look at the new Marker binding.
How has nobody figured out how to switch from ski to walk in Dynafits? Twist the heel piece like 20º and lift up with your heel. Easy, I promise.
Any word on the price point for the F10?

Well, I have 20-25 of both the F10 and F12 coming my way. Can't really talk about price, but I would urge you to PM me prior to buying from anyone else.

Resurrection time; it's Fall. Has anyone skiied these yet?
I'm wondering if these are strong enough to mount on my go-to resort + slackcountry DPS 112RPs. I have Dukes on all my "inbounds" skis now, however the DIN is overkill for me. Curious if the Tour will be able to fulfill this function and make the ski that much lighter yet still give alpine-style performance.
Thoughts from those who've been riding it? Squaretail? This binding warrantied for resort alpine use?
