I went up to Wildcat to ski on that awesome looking snow, looks can be deceiving. As I was skinning up a couple of skier were complaining on their way down saying it was too heavy. Made it to about 300 ft below the summit on the Catapult trail. Skinning was easy because I followed existing tracks. But skiing down was hard because the snow was so heavy that it acted like glue.. The only way down was to get on tracks made by other skiers, and there were only one or two of those, or back on the tracks used for skinning up. It was harder to ski down than to skin up. Groomers would've been the only way to enjoy that snow today
heard something similar from a buddy that was up there this evening. He said the snow wasn't wet but was some of the hardest shit to ski this year. Weird.

PSA to Burlington mags: there is a skintrack on the TD above the CCC road. don't get disgouraged if you're coming up from the bottom. the hardest part is already set for you. you're welcome. it was not easy to put in. that is all.

Wind speeds should stay above hurricane force (77mph) for a good portion of the day, continuing some snow loading.

When skinning, keep your back straight and focus on weighting your heels, not the ball of your foot. This will help you use different muscle groups on the up and down hill. Do it alot...it get's easier.

^^^^^ I have a lot of folks to call back. Was in the surgery center all day waiting, getting xrays, and meeting with the surgeon. He wants to hold off for 3 more weeks and let what they have done heal some more. He really did not have much to say excet for, we are taking this surgery by surgery and you are at the very beginning of a long road on what is one of the worst leg injuries I have seen in my 25 years of leg trauma surgery, being tactful is just not his gig. He lays it straight which is cool. The hoe is that the knee graft will take and then they will start to reattach the ligaments. The alternative if the graft fails is a fused knee joint, which I did not like to hear. But that is not going to be my fate on this one, no fucking way. So back in Middlebury on my ass watching the snow melt and about to start a safe work out routine. Still need to be able to smoke you guys on the track next year

just got home from the NEK, got to love the vermontabhan also known as I91. had to get
Turn High home for the school bus. 5th chair this morning at jay, don't know him but someone pointed out that slope-a-doper was on first chair. first run down UN outstanding, hooked up with Do Work, Crank 54 and the always humorous AreWolf. Kitz woods and timbuk both awesome this morning. timbuk especially fun today. TC you were missed today. your praxis would have rocked today. i was lovin' the 189 toons today, real point it in the fall line kind of day. didn't bury a tip all day and it was gettin' manky by noon. crank should have some vid later, that guy schralps it. it was way worth the drive.

Today was good, the snow was definitely wind buff in some places but really good in others. Jay was smart to open this weekend. Here's a couple of pics from my adventures over the past two days.

Wednesday at Stowe, the hike up looked like this. The snow went from 2" to 2' within steps. This was a for real storm

    Non-mag Will, he's 6'3" and knee deep.

    The day after, breaking trail.

The aftermath snow bank 5 feet deep next to the gondola.

Sickster. Glad to hear woods in play. Warmer temps should just settle it nice like. I hope.... Be there tomorrow with non-mag and BostonJohn. Hoping to catch up with Buckethead for laps/brews too.

Nice hike at Stowe today. Cats appeared to be going up and down North Slope and environs so mountain employees could do a few laps. Tracks kinda ruined those trails, but Nosedive was the place to be anyway. A little windslabby in spots up high, a little moist and slow down low--but the coverage was outstanding. Worthwhile turns.

Will be riding the lifts at Jay tomorrow, most likely. Sounds like things were good today; I'll settle for good enough tomorrow.
