TR: Welcome to the Central Washington Cascades

After the seven week drought the weather has come back with avengence the past 3 weeks. Day after day the resorts have been delivering the goods with little reason to leave the resort. With the days longer and the weather sunny it was a obvious choice to head into the B.C. and get some North facing lines.
Wensday a skier friend Joe and myself went to the Tatoosh range which is just South of Rainier and still in the National park.
Joe skinning through the Old Growth

Then finally we reached alpine at around 5'000 feet

myself skining across the valley to access the low Saddle

It got steep near the saddle but we finally got access to a NE facing run

Joe skiing with Rainier in the Background

The run was mainly to access this terrain

Joe started breaking the skin track

    Myself skinning towards the summit

Once access the ridge we traversed a way but got sketched by the cliffs
We called this mountain Certain Death

The snow was North facing which made for some great riding

    The lines were sick

Joe skiing back towards the old Growth

Damn, when WA is good it is off the hook, totally jealous.

    That TR = win
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.

You mags up there in Washington state got it real good. It does not seem as though you are on the national radar for too many visitors (like Summit Co., Vail), but every TR I see from up there is fantastic. The terrain is awesome and when you get the snow, it looks like you get a ton of it. Thanks for the great pics.
