TR: Whistler backcountry 3/8/08

Had another good day with Rich, Sarah, Cam, Robin and Cole

Richard went off with a few straightlines and I had the best spine line of my life. Snow is still surprisingly good if you ski north faces and are willing to hike to it.

Rich

Robin

Cole

Till next week

The first 3 pics of richard are the spines we were too scared to ski the other day with snow conditions (by our 2nd run). the far ridge is money but the pillows below are even better. will post more pics when robin sends me his

I am thinking we really missed the boat this weekend by passing up Saturday and trying to tour on Sunday. We really should have headed out to that zone instead of our useless mission to Foon on Sunday. Oh well.

Nice shots Mr. Cubicle Farmer.

Sweet shots, looks money, where abouts is this (around Fissile it looks like from some of the shots?)?

A couple of us just went for a walk to cowboy ridge on saturday as well, still had some good low-angle pow, but it made us contemplate the bigger lines in the area for the next time.

Yup - it kind of blew but beats sitting around on the couch. Oh well - this doesn't deserve its own thread so i can at least bump a good one with nice pictures.

We went up to do Foon Alley. Due to kicking my ski off and having to dig around for 40 minutes to find it I ended up going straight up Poop chutes to the heli-stakes just N of Phalanx. Chris booted up to the Foon Alley ridge where we had a look at a whole pile of flat light and cloud.

Brian and Maya skied off a chute N of Poop while Chris and I skied back down Poop Chutes through boot top pow. Highlight was poutine at cittas

High winds at the heli stake

Ridge walk talus shuffle to Foon Alley

(Lack of) visibility

Chris approaching the ridge and watching out for cornices

So I am in the midst of buying a place on the Shore (yay me, finally ) so no time for a TR but wanted to share some pics from skiing the Spearhead Glacier on Saturday....so I'm also invading your thread. The conditions were so much better then we anticipated and it helped that we stuck mostly to north aspects for the day.

Me enjoy some low angle goodness
