    185 or 193 nordica blower

    ok i am roughly 175 lbs, 5'9"
i am and expert skier with an alpine racing background and generally like to ski fast and catch air and will be lucky enuf to have snowbird as my home mountain,
last year i skied a 179 seth pistol at snowbird and it felt a little short, but overall performed well
this will be my everyday ski unless the conditions are real crappy, also some other suggestions on other brands of skis that would be comparable to the blower would be nice

I am 5'11", 160lbs and I ride the 185 Blower. They are rediculously easy to turn compared to how stable they are. In the wide ope I wish I had the 193 but as an all arounder I like the 185.

    Bumping this thread

I'm curious too. I'm roughly the same size etc...and debating over the 185 or 193 and I didn't like the length on my first generation Big Daddy's. Too long for some of the tight terrain I end up in.

I am 5'10" 165lbs and ski the 193 Blower as my everday ski. It is a big turning ski, but in tight stuff they are soft enough to bring around. I felt the 185 was too soft and short at high speeds. But if you had been skiing a 179 Seth a 185 Blower might be fine. Personally I think the 189 Seth is too short and too soft, so...

I thought they were labeled in Mens and Women's sizes.

Just one different opinion to throw out there but I ABSOULTLY HATED the blowers. Early season I was dying for these (almost bought a pair of 193 from a mag and posted atleast one WTB thread) but got talked out by someone at my shop. Recently I demoed a pair of 185s, read my review here, I really really disliked these skis. I have also talked to 2 other people (1 instructor, 1 a shop guy) who really disliked the blower for the same reasons I did.

I realize this is going against the popular opinion here but I think that negative opinions should be shared as well; I would definitly recommend demoing these do not buy sight unseen.

Well for those of you interested in picking a pair up, I'm probably unloading my undrilled 193's. Just couldn't justify the quiver overlap, with the amount of skiing I'm getting in. That said I was gung ho on the Blowers as well. If I were still in Colorado would have them mounted up as when I demoed the 185's they were sweet. Just the right stiffness for me (6 foot 165 pounds), but I felt they were a little to short so I went with the 193's. Stiff, but not IM103 stiff, and still enough cut to be able to have fun on the groomers (in contrast my 103's are a handful. The construction on these skis seems pretty bomber as well, although I know the beast had some problems. For me it was worth it as unlike Phil I thought they skiied like a dream (alas I think for a more one ski quiver, my Bro's seem like the better all arounder.)

The Blowers rock. Great for surfing pow, not bad edge hold. Only place I hate these is on ice or re-frozen crud. I am on the 193's, but I have you by ~50lbs. I would suggest the 185. A little easier to bring around, especially in trees.

I am wondering where the mounts were on the negative reviews??

I am 5'11" and 180lbs and ski the girl size and like it. I don't get the "these are too short" feeling on them, like I did with the 183 gotamas.

Shameless posting offering my drilled once 185's for three bills if anyone wants 'em. WAY fun skis, but Seths, Blowers, Praxis, and fat iggies make for some serious powder overlap. Fresh wax & edges too.

Marker comp 18, 315mm, ride line. I'd prolly go to Porters, though. I don't really need the skis, but I don't really need to sell them either. Y'know?

Then to kind of keep this on topic, what DON'T you like about them beyond the space they take up?

Well, the graphics are boring. I would have liked some flames on the topsheets. Flames are cool. Other than that, they totally rock out.

If you are asking about the blowers I would say they are medium overall. The tip is soft but it ramps up quickly underfoot and the tail is pretty solid. They are similar to the Gotama in the hand flex test.

I ride the Enforcers at 177; 98 under foot. and they are very stiff. Great in the open bowls, and float fine in fresh gnar. The more speed I carry the better they rip. Really had to work to handle them in the bumps, and trees tho. I know the Blowers have more flex, and also got on a pair of 183 gots. The gots could be a little stiffer letting them rip. I read the '08 gots are going to be a little stiffer, and could be a great option for you...

watch out for a huge rooster tail on the whole nordi supercharger line because of the twin tip.

Just got back from 3 days of cat skiing and a pow day at solitude and am digging the blowers big time. My first day about a month ago at Snowbasin I really struggled on them but up in BC I was able to dial them in after a few tree runs. I'm 6 foot 200# and on the 185's mounted 1 cm ahead of the ride line on the sidewall. They are a bit thick coming around on hop turns but o0nce you get used to the width they do just fine. I found them to offer great float and be very easy to turn on a dime in the trees. I was worried the 185's might be too short for mach looney speeds but once you trust them and stand centered they ride big open faces like a phat caddy. Even submerged sled tracks didn't faze them at high speeds. They rail groomers and crud bumps with ease. They like to be driven with a very centered stance so if you tend to drive the tips hard they will spank you a bit til ya dial in. It's a shame the name and the tail graphics are so lame. They should have just left the tails black.

Next year's graphics have this big sparkplug on it tip of the ski. I'm leaning toward the 193. I'm 5'11" 185 lbs. and compete in freeskiing comps, think size is right or should I go to the 185. I have the 183 Gotama from last year, but do ski a 193 Sanouk as well. I can get a good deal them and wanna get them, just wanna get the right size.

Anydody wanna help me out?? Bueller??? Bueller??? Buellar???

How did you like the 183 gots? I have those too, and they ski shorter than the 185 blowers, but the running length is similar. I don't know, competing in comps makes me think you should get the 193s for landings and speed, but the 185s would probably be good enough and more of an all around messing around ski. I think with your Sanouk Gotama comparison you have your answer.

After being on 185cm Blowers for a year and a bit now I would say that if you are looking for a do everything resort ski, get the 185s, if you are looking for a big mountain comp ski, get the 193s. There are days I wish I had the "mens" version, but I use them as an everydayer and the 185s kill it for me. I am 5'11" 160lbs for reference.

I love them. Since I started using mine about 2 weeks ago, I haven't ridden anything since. I am 5'9" and 140# and they are super easy to ride.
