    Scarpa Mobe - INFO?

Sounds like it could be good.
110 flex, intuitions, powerstrap, rockered lugged sole, compatible with all AT bindings (including tech), 7lb14oz/pair.

that's almost a half pound per boot lighter than the titans (8lb12oz/pair), but can it tour?

anyone have more than the press release info?

    Scarpa says:

"Meet the Mobe (Mo‐bay), the most
uncompromising boot yet in the SCARPA collection for people who want downhill power
with ski‐touring versatility. Basically an alpine boot with a lugged sole, touring mode and
tech‐binding compatibility, the Mobe offers more power than other boots in this class
thanks to SCARPA’s Powerblock Tour mechanism, the closest thing yet to the power of a
fixed‐cuff boot in a package that has a true ski/walk mode. The Mobe, which comes
stock with Intuition liners, has a lugged mountaineering sole with rocker for mountain
travel, and is compatible with all alpine‐touring bindings,
including tech‐style bindings. Add the fact that this boot is made with plant‐based
plastic, and this is the most advanced boot ever for that crossroads where freeride
meets backcountry touring. Even with all that power, though, the Mobe still tips the
scales at only 7 pounds, 14 ounces per pair. $759."

I doubt a Scarpa 110 flex will be as stiff as the Titan. The current 110 flex certainly isn't. But it looks like a nice boot for sure.

back from asolo. They're very nice. A wise version of the skookum (the bottom part is almost identical), with a lot of possible tuning. I'm afraid they will not serve my slim fit (skookum is too wide for me), but mebbe there is a chance..... in any case, as soon as the production starts (in the coming weeks) and my size is available I'll try a pair.

BTW, also dalbello has a freeride boot in production, but not for walking

maestrale looks as a real killer. Pretty light, lot of tuning, quick dynafit step-in, novel vibram soles..... can't wait to try it (again, production wil start soon)

no, it's called the scorpion and looks like a supa-stiff overlapped race boot... but at dalbellos they believe it can be used also for intense freeride.

regarding the mobe, I'm not able to indicate any flex (this flex measuring stuff is beyond my skill), but they were made with big americans in mind

i've got a pair sitting right next to me.

i'm gonna try 'em on in rotation with my hurricanes and skookums and will report back.

the cuff lock mechanism looks to be a big improvement.

I'll be testing a pair - curious to see if Scarpa can keep stiff and touring in the same sentence. Although they did a fine job on the Skookum so fingers crossed

I brought a pair home a messed around with them. They don't have anymore rearward cuff movement than Factors. In fact, my Factors (which I have done a touch of shell grinding to allow more cuff movement like Steve on TetonAT did) have significantly more rearward movement. However, they are noticably lighter than my Factors, and they seem to be lower volume than previous Scarpas I have tried on (such as the Spirits). Stiffness seemed similar to Factors.

i got drunk last night and spent some time walking around in my skookums, hurricanes and mobes.

i don't remember my impressions very clearly but the one that sticks out is that the mobe felt like a skookum all hopped up on steroids. it seems to be the next step in the scarpa/dynafit progression laser>matrix>spirit>skookum>mobe. it felt significantly stiffer than the skookum but my skooks have about a hundred days on them. the hurricane is a totally different boot but the mobe seems like a really big step towards providing a dynafit compatible boot with comparable performance.

Are you guys going to use the stock Intuition liners with the tongue, or wrap around Intuitions?

i bought the mobe today. from what i read, it seemed like that the scarpa normally are high-voume/wide last but i have slim feet and i really felt good on them. i bought one full size smaller that my previous boots (radiums) which i bought too big and was swimming in them. they seem to be quite light but at the same quite stiff. it is snowing right now here in the Dolomites, so maybe in 2/3 i might be able to try them.

take this with a grain of salt as I only tried them on in the shop the other day. But I wouldn't compare its stiffness to that of a titan or factor. They definately have a decent amount of flex to them. Not necessarily a bad thing, and I realize that AT boots are inherently going to be softer than an alpine boot anyways. Its a decently stiff AT boot for sure, just dont expect it to have the stiffness of a titan or factor and you'll be happy with it I would imagine.
