    Official Intuition Wrap Liner Comparisons

As more and more companies start using Intuition made liners, I felt it was time to start a thread comparing where each companies offerings fall in the line and what construction they have.

Having had the opportunity now to work with a majority of the liners, I am first going to try and place them in "order" of where they would fall on the performance scale. IE Low end liner to High End liner.

    Lowest to Highest

    Intuition Universal
Dalbello ID Silver (medium density (MD) EVA)
Intuition Alpine (12mm of HD EVA)
    Dalbello ID Orange (HD EVA)
Scarpa Precision High (1 layer of MD EVA, 1 layer of HD EVA)
Intuition Powerwrap Plug (9mm of HD EVA + 3mm of MD EVA)
Intuition Powerwrap (12mm of HD EVA + 3mm of MD EVA)
Dalbello ID Gold (Unknown layers of HD EVA, measures same thickness as Scarpa Speed)
Scarpa Speed (2 Layers of HD EVA)

I personally believe that Dalbello ID Gold and Scarpa Speed are almost identical in construction and in working with each, it seems they work better with Custom Insoles than the PowerWrap, as they have thinner Soles in the liners than the Powerwrap or even the Powerwrap Plug.

Me likes where this is going. Too bad I have no idea which Scarpa Intuition I have, only that it says, "Scapra" and "Intuition".
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

Where would you put the Luxury and Free ride tongue style liners on your list?

I dont have any experience with Intuition tongue liners and thus they are not on the list. Probably why I put "Wrap" specifically in the title. I have been told by Intuition that the Luxury is stiffer than the Freeride and that the Luxury Liner comes in three different volumes. But being as they are tongue liners, they will affect overall boot flex differently.

Marshall - I tried the new Scarpa tongue liner here and its basically a Pro Tour liner. Unless its changed from that liner included with the Maestrale

The Plug liner is supposed to have 9mm foam + 2mm in the sole for tighter fit for those who want a "race-boot" like fit. I'll check in with them

per Crystal at Intuition: DalBello Proton (Orange) = body: 10HD + 4RD, toebox: 8RD+2SS, insole: 7HD. HD = High Density, RD = Regular/Medium Density, SS = Super Soft Density

thanks lee. looks like the maestral = tour, mobe = luxury

i know the plug as a 5mm insert for under fit to raise foot that can be used or not.

i think krash told me it was a much stiffer material than the powerwrap stuff. maybe i am off here.

    thanks!

I'm getting some Mobes next week or so. I'll stick some pictures up and check into what type and density of foam it is. I'm sure Scarpa asked for some modifications - they usually do. All I know for now is that it is an Intuition/

All I've been wanting to see from them is a Luxury liner with a thin sole for footbeds. A couple winters ago I believe I tried all three volumes to work with a footbed and all were unsuccesful. Good news anyway that they are doing at least the Powerwrap with a thinner sole.

I wonder what the Atomics are going to come with?

Correct me if I'm wrong but main difference between Powerwrap and Luxury is the Powerwrap will stiffen the flex of the boot where as the Luxury will allow for a more natural flex of the boot and also more comfortable on the shin. If you need to stiffen the flex of the boot then go Powerwrap and if not and are looking for slightly more comfort in front then go Luxury. Otherwise around the foot should be the same.

Didn't see the adds to this thread. Yes, intuition did change the sole of the powerwrap plug this year. It is only 2mm thick with a 5mm "footbed". Reasoning being is people wanted a liner they could use with custom footbeds. I had been using scarpa speed liners for that purpose until this year and still do depending on the volume of the boot, but the plug is the best option for those using custom footbeds like superfeet corx, conformables or instaprinz. The other less talked about change to the plugs though that Marshall may be referring to is the "wrap material". On the old plug, the wrap material on the outside of the liner was a very stiff synthetic leather type material that really made the liners stiff, the new plugs have the feltish wrap material on the outside of the liner that regular powerwraps, dalbellos, and scarpas have and IMHO, they are not as stiff...
