    Nordica Blower Mounting: Where?

My 185s knocked on the door today. I usually like to mount a bit forward to compensate for my poor technique. What are people doing? There's two lines, Ride and Air, or something like that. Ride is about 3cm back of Air. I was thinking of going smack in the middle.

on my 193 Proto's from last year I mounted them on "Ride" and thought it was a bit back. I remounted 1.5cm foward of ride and it is about right for me. But I normally like my skis on the midsole mark or back, never foward. So if you tend to like you skis foward a bit I would go a bit further. And you have 185's not 193's and the production models seem to have a stiffer flex, especially in the tip, so............

What the hell are you supposed to do if you ride them on the way to your air?

.........so what? Mine are stiffer so go even more forward? But since they are shorter maybe not as far? Are you saying the two cancel each other?

    heh^

I typically mount a little back and went ride on my 193s. Wait, that doesn't really help you at all does it?

    Fun ski though.

So your ski is different and may not perform the same as my 193 does in each mounting position. And yes, with the stiffer ski you may be able to go further foward, and yes I would not mount as far foward on the 185, but thats me. It is up to you and your style

My 185s are currently mounted at Ride, they ski very well from there. However the tail feels a bit short and soft, so if I had to do it all over again I'd go +2 maybe +3 of the ride.

I have my 185s at ride. Seems pretty perfect. I can stay forward on 'em and still get tons of float. Coming from a racing background I like the mount position a little farther back than most. I am 5'11" and 160lbs for reference.

Can anyone tell me exactly what the mounting point is on these skis? On the sidewall there are two I which volkl uses alot to mark midboot, but also on the top sheet there are two distinct white lines marked "air" and "ride" but they dont line up with the I on the sidewall...

So can anyone tell me what they used, or what nordica says?

I have some 193s mounted on ride and they are a blast. Still feel super nimble on ride.

Reading comprehension anyone??? I am not asking for suggestions on where to mount it for ride vs. air... I already know I want it at ride, or maybe a CM forward of ride.

What I am asking is what is the "ride" mark, on my sidewall I see two I's which is usually used to denote midsole mark, and since there are two I figured one was ride and one was air....however they dont line up with the topsheet marks for "ride" and "air". And as far as the topsheet marks go are you guys just going by the longer white line across the topsheet??(i also see two white boxes running vertically down the ski for like 3cm as well...)

Bump for this question... since I don't know if I am supposed to use the I mark on the sidewall or the the Ride line on the top sheet. They don't line up.

Measure either way to make sure the mark you are using on each ski is the same. Don't ever go off a topsheet graphic for a mounting point (at least not without measuring). The sidewall mark is usually much more reliable. I went off the side wall and mounted smack between ride and air. Have yet to ski them, so I can't report on how they feel there.

Sorry for the thread-jack, but can someone tell me where they would place the 193 Proto on the flex index? Just trying to decide if these need to stay in my quiver or not. I am having to re-mount mine, if I don't get rid of them. Thinking a little bit back of the previous holes, which are at "ride"...

I don't know what you have to compare to, but they flex like a capital Med-stiff, a little stiffer than the Elan 777. The tip is very soft right at the end on the contact. The more I ski 'em I really like my 193's mounted 1.5cm+ of ride. Feels very balanced now, mounted further back I could not pressure the tip enough trying to toss 193's around in tight tree's etc. Now they still plow and cruise SG turns, but I can rip out a tighter turn when needed. And the soft tip/tail past the contact points acts like a rocker design when you get them in pow, that tip never dives! The more I ski the more I like the proto's flex. I would keep 'em

I will keep. I need a stiffer ski in the quiver, and don't really have a reason to sell other than my own selfish reasons (bills, food, taxes, x-mas gifties). I will sacrifice my own wants and desires to keep these skis!

Any further reviews on different mount points (bossy?)? I've got some 185s on the way.

Man, I have alot of mounting threads.

Um, I only skied on these a couple times and ditched them. Nothing wrong with the ski at all, I was just suffering severe overlap and these were getting used the least while holding the most monitary value.

I remember being cool with my mounting decision, but I never got them in the deep shit.

I haven't skied mine alot but I have mine (185) about 0.5 in front of the Ride line. Seems money to me.
