Need a styling bike for around town, with mild hills: Basket, fenders, upright riding, couple of gears.
Looking at the Trek District 9, any thoughts? Doesn't seem to be many options, but maybe I'm searching in the wrong spots.

Woah, I agree with mtngrl on something.
Get a belt drive with an internal rear hub. I have 2 seasons on my belt drive SS, and it's been exactly maintenance free. No lube, no tightening, no noise, no black greasy mess on your pants, etc. The belt is perfect for this application. https://momentummag.com/commuter-bik...-carbon-drive/
Many of those are pricey, because the custom builders are the first to adopt the new technology, but cheaper bikes with the belt are out there.

We picked up a couple of these last year and they've been solid. Just over $400, 7 speeds, built in coffee/beer holder and integrated u-lock space. We regularly ride 25 miles or so on them, mostly flat bike path with a few hills.

Rad Bianchi ^^ I thought of doing that to my Grizzly but the rigid fork+rack+tires+fenders was adding up to too much to buy separate. It had the places to bolt them on though.

I got my wife a step through Jamis Commuter from JAX. It was the prior year model but deep discount. Had to tighten a few bolts and adjust the rear (err, only) derailleur and the brakes a bit. They make a “guys” version and had three group sets available. Comes with a burly rear rack. I really liked riding it on errands vs my single speed vintage road conversion with a backpack and no fenders. Seemed like a solid bike.

Regular chain-cog-mech setup but the most expensive one is 649.00 US and has discs which would be nice.

the only pic I still have of the STBEX’s Jamis. On a winter beer run. Fenders were sweet for the winter. Probably not the best choice if commuting more than maybe 5-10 miles one way but it was a good bike.
