I drove by 2 weeks ago and there were still some patches there. It would be a long hike for short patches. There's probably better options if you're just looking for turns.

Open to sulphur works on the south side, should make good progress this week although they usually wait a bit to open things even when the road is cleared to the summit due to snow/rockfall.

It's the first week in June. It's over 10,000'. It was a big snow year. It's a great run on a big easy volcano how much more beta do you need?

Last year the road opened to Bumpass Hell around June 25. Currently 221 inches, 18 feet of snow at Lake Helen, existentially Bumpas Hell parking lot. Me thinks it will be similar to last year or even later before the road is open to Bumpas Hell.

TA: if you're looking for stuff closer to the front (i.e. Truckee area), you might consider Donner Ridge/Negro Canyon as well as Mt. Lola...also the Buttes out by Sardine Lake...not as far of a haul.

I'm confused and have been seeing this pattern a lot lately around here.
If you read correctly, PD is giving props to the post directly above his, yet he includes 3 arrows, which would lead one to believe that he is actually giving props to 3 posts above his. Why three arrows when you're referencing/replying to the thread directly above (a lot of other Maggots have been doing this and it's confusing as hell to me: seems logical that 1 arrow would be referring to the post above, 2 arrows would be referring to 2 posts above, etc., right?)
Anyway, carry on with the Lassen love...

imo
any arrows = the post above.
more than one post above requires quote box
many people use a #of posts per page different from the default, so you never really know if you're pointing up to something on the same page.powdork.com - new and improved, with 20% more dork.

As soon as road to devastation area opens, drive it. Drink beer in lot. Sleep in car. Wake up. Ski up drainage. Aim towards NW ridge. Climb ridge. Go to summit. Drop in. Go to car. Drink beer. Repeat as necessary.

If you have never done Lassen (which by your original question I'm assuming)
Go as soon as the road is open so you have options of the minor drainages.
Or go when the road opens to the peak lot and hitch rides (but have less options).
Lassen is pretty and all, and has some stinky little steam geysers, but it is the Cascades and hence pretty mellow terrain wise ( and I'm a wuss).
I would head south (eastern slope) to explore

Heading up tomorrow for turns on Saturday. Possibly some roped climbing on Eagle peak as well. I am expecting a ton of snow to still be up there though!
