TR: A little walk across the park in MT.
After a few months of suffering through the most foolish and absurd hazing experience of my life, we took a little stroll across Montucky, right up next to Canada.
Driving in...
Grizzly momma and her two cubs did not want to yield the trail...so we went around.
I carried this beer in to the first campground. It was well worth it.
Day 1.5 of 7...shit!!!!
Oh yeah, this will probably work...for about 100 steps.
Good thing I had a pair of Chacos...
These kind Canadian gentlemen gave me a ride into Waterton to get some new boots. Thanks Warren and Nick!
Border cuts..welcome to Canuckistan!
I feel bad for my Canadian friends. Ridiculous.
This is different..heading back to Montucky on the pleasure cruise, enjoying two $4/single beers.
Border cut on east side of lake. Seems a little unnecessary.
It was right about this time that I realized I never went through Canadian Customs and wandered around as an illegal border crosser in Canada all afternoon...

Trail is on the right, then middle of shot, then through the pass in the upper left. Crazy trail building on the way up to Boulder Pass.
Amazing that all this can happen in only 6000 years. Someday I'll need to get an Intelligent Designer to explain the mechanics of it all. or not.
Never a finer place to drop a deuce...
What's left of the Agassiz Glacier.
Last morning sunrise rainbow.
Right place...
...right time.
The beer they sell here tastes better and different for some reason...
The End.

Incredible. Thanks for sharing.
Those border cuts are ridiculously stupid. Is there some stated practical reason?

Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

Very cool. Love that place but haven't been back in 15 years or so. Thanks for the pics

Looks awesome. I dropped a buddy off to start the CDT there last summer and know I need to get back for a longer visit. Looks like you nailed the weather and the itinerary. I also really dig a long hike that includes a wee bit of beers in civilization. Nice work.

Not exactly sure but I've been told that Parks Canada cut them all way back when, 1920's or something. All the boundaries of Banff & Kootenay parks have the same cuts, Waterton Park (canadian side) is a similar age I think.
Those beer prices are higher than normal, tourist prices since Waterton is full of Americans anyways

Hazing = bar exam.
james: No, I just meant the boundary cuts go from Washington/BC to at least Warroad, MN, where the border is no longer a straight line along the 49th parallel. It's crazy...and dumb.
