I think I might prefer $279 round trip from SFO -> Mammoth, on United, in a CRJ-700 over $250 round trip to Truckee in a small single engine plane (both minimum, non-peak prices). The Mammoth flights are rather ill-timed too though, and require dealing with SFO. Anyway, the more competition the better.

Pummeling rain and wind in East Bay. Satellite went out. Really coming down. The street is flooded and it never floods.

I heard they are already planning a gondola connection. The midstation is going to be at the new village at Tinkers Knob.

Does that mean Vail is finally going to build the Heavenly to Kirkwood gondola in order to stay competitive?

    yes, yes, yes!

Folks were asking about a tunnel with the recent closures. Fuck that. I want a Cinderella Castle Mega Base Village on the lake, with a Tram to the top, and Epic* low angle tree cut trails and 6 Packs with Windshields and a Benihana to take the pressure off the valley.

Does anyone know if the KW Inn opened back up?

I heard they're going to cancel President's / ski week at the local schools because they're already going to get out so late now and there's likely to be a few more snow days. Otherwise school could last into July.

went up p-house this morning. first run was amazing but it had snowed well over a foot in the previous five hours at that point so we figured the considerable rating was no longer valid at least on the south shore.

latest NOAA forecast discussions are painting a snowcapolypse scenario for this weekend. hype or reality?

    sample text:
    Local authorities are
recommending enough non-perishable food for up to a week.
Listen closely to local law enforcement and fire officials for
    recommendations.

^^ Based on what we've been seeing so far, seems like a smart recommendation. I think what's been happening is a lot of trees are weak from the drought years, so these big storms are knocking over more than they normally would.

Doesn't mean the bay area schools are going to cancel it.
