Who in the world suggested that? That would be about 100 yards of nice skiing followed by 4-5 hours of soul searching bushwacking, ending with a tresspass through someone's yard to stand along the highway and get honked at.

If you just want a big day, ski over Point Six and into Burgundy and yoyo something which is legitimately nice.

It would probably require a couple of skins up to get further north and hop a couple ridges, where the trees don't look as thick lower down. Trespassing would still likely have to happen. Obviously you have to have somebody drop off a car somewhere along the highway in the morning too. Obviously not ideal, but I'm not seeing many lift served sidecountry options besides tv mountain.

I've heard about riding a bike down from point 6 road above lavelle and coming out on forest roads into evaro. I don't think that would be good skiing though.

I seem to recall one winter snowbowl had a sign on the bowl out run that said, "wall hits, not" or something silly like that. Had a crash on 12/28 that reminded me of that sign

Late to ask, but anyone wanna do an easy tour tomorrow? Was thinking dog friendly parts of Lolo. Or all the way to Lookout and doing the slope across the highway.
PM me. Even if it's just directions.

My planned 4 days of skiing turned into 3 when flight couldn't land in MSO and returned to SLC for the night and ended up on the flight to BTM, but got to have a WOP chop for lunch, so that was a positive. Awesome blue sky on 1/20, but not so on 1/21 when we were on top of Squaw peak:

It was all good adventure, but not the best skiing. I can see why there isn't much interest in the area. A few pitches of nicely spaced trees, but also lots of thick. Also way to long of snowmobile tow to the trailhead...something like 11 miles.

Sunday 1/22 we were rewarded with blue sky and no tracks (other than ours) on Wisherd ridge...and the snow was excellent, so we did several laps:

Monday 1/23 Snowbowl had a couple inches of new on top of crust. Had some fun runs (but nothing like xmas week):

    have a good winter/spring!

Finally looks like the snow drought will be over. Storm track track looks good for west central and northwestern Montana next week.

Thanks for the pics 406. The Bowl and Rattlesnake have been skiing surprisingly well this week, although a bit icy in places. The stability has been nice but stoked for new snow.

JONG intro- tgr lurker for a few years, 3rd season in Missoula but first with a pass. Not a dentists and I own a pair of red skis.
    It sucks to suck.

Trying to make the stars align, I do have a place to sleep at the pass just need to figure out a ride situation its a long one to attempt alone(I may still do it if I feel like I have a relatively easy start to next week). While going up to this place(4.5'k slog from the bottom of the valley to the top of Mill point) I was thinking how nice it would be to do some slack country laps instead.

    ^^^wow nice.
Text me and let me know what your sleeping arrangements are. If there's a place for me, I'd be down. Might have another buddy who'd be down too.

Yep, today was nice. Tomorrow should be too before it gets warm in the afternoon. Heard Lolo was even skiing nice today, it was real heavy and raining at the road on Sunday.
