yet another online bootfitting thread...
The only reason I do this to myself is there are no reliable fitters currently near me. I have to wait till December to get these to a decent fitter, and if I need to exchange them online it will have to be soon.
I ordered kryps from porters in a 25 at their suggestion, based on when I went into their shop/the fit problems i was having with my xwaves. First off, the boot is AMAZING!! I did a ton of research before I settled on these and I'm glad I did--they hold my heel and calf so well, and the flex is unlike anything I've ever tried. Combined with the booster this could not be a better model for me.
The fit issue i'm having though is that my toes are pretty tight in there. I have a wide forefoot, which is why i previously rode sallys, but my calf/heel are narrow. the liner feels a LITTLE small, where my toes are curling a bit. I'm worried that in the cold this will be a problem.
Questions: How much room is there to grind out the front of the boot? When I get the liner heated will it expand to the point where this won't be necessary? Should I just exchange for the 25.5?
I only worry because I know it is easier to correct fit problems when boots are small than if they are big. I can get a finger in the heel of the shell, but only after reaching around that weird part in the back of a krypton that arcs over your heel (this part just adds to that heel retention I love so much).
If anyone has had similar issues with kryptons please let me know. Thanks!

There is plenty of room to work with in the entire forefoot of that boot.
You can do what you need to with the liner in the comfort of your home, and I would do that now. If your problem is more than just "toe" and is actually "mets squeezed together" you will certainly need more work done, but it shouldn't be a problem unless you have a truly exceptional foot, at which point just getting your foot into the boot stock would be painful. The 25.5 won't change any of this.

what he said
25 and 25.5 are the same shell so the liner will pack out to the same shape in the end anyways.
with the liner out, does the side of your foot touch the side of the shell?
yes = you will need more width
no or just brushing = ski them before you make more room
overall I bet that they will be fine, you just need to ski them for a few days

The only difference between a 25.0 and 25.5 is the foot bed is thicker so that will not help you. But a finger to a finger and a half is what you want, so when it packs out you still get a fit and not to much slop. Also a good boot fitter can make a boot a whole size bigger if you cannot deal with the tightness. cheers man good luck with the boots

whew! sounds like good news from everybody. to answer mntlions q, the sides of my foot do brush the shell. The main thing that makes me feel better is that there is room to work with them, I just wasn't sure how much. Can't wait to ski these things, I can already feel how much more control I'll have over my new skis, which I will probably like much better now that I have boots that work.
I went a whole size down, and not only that my old boots were not even holding my heel/calf in place.
Looking forward to a world of difference in my skiing. thanks again mags

I bought my kryptons a size smaller than I should have, only because I knew how much material there was to be taken out. I also have a very wide foot and a high instep, so I really didnt have much business being in the krypton. I started out with a half finger shell fit and my forefoot pressing on both sides of the shell. I spent all my free time in the boot room for about three days punching and grinding, but ended up with a boot that fit wonderfully. After I molded the liner, it was even better.
