A day at the Orchard.
It ain't easy being a free spirt when you come from a traditional farming family in the Noth country of Maine. But aw hell, Boots has a dream and he follows it. Boots spent his first cold season abroad last year and liked it. He said "I think I wanna do that agin." And do that Boots will, come hell or high water.
Being from a family of about a dozen siblings, all of em' stayin local to home in some degree or another theres a fair amount of competition for jobs around the Boots family farm. Boots being the wayfarer understandedly is low man on the totem pole. So when a virus came around the farm this year and vet bills ran hi, Boots had to hit the road lookin for work.
Farmins' all Boots knows so farmin he will do. Pitchforks and pumpkins is what Boots puts on his resume. Well times are tight and gettin tighter. It was August and Boots was paintin houses. Hotter than a half fucked fox in a forest fire and they were smokin drugs to boot. Boots smoked the grass one time but ended up staying the night out in a cornfield talkin to the moon. hehe, Boots don't smoke anything now but cheese.
Well, Boots came across a golden opportunity after all his travels lookin for work. His quest had brought him as far as the Connek tee kot river. Boots been west of the big Missippi, but he ain't never been to Vee-mont. Don't plan on it neither does he. There a little bit queer over that way, just a little bit funny. Fair amount of flat landers over there to boot.
So Boots is just so goddamn happy with his good fortune he wants to share it with all of you good folks here. Heres how Boots has been spending his harvest season and funding his travels to "the Big Country" this winter.
Boots starts his days around sunrise sweeping the barn and stocking shelves. He doesn't work in Solitude very often.
these lil fellers are almost done their work for the year but they soldier on.
Time to fire up the tractor...
..she coughs and pukes for a bit when she's cold.
No worries though... she's...
Gotta fill these boxes..
with these apples.
Well, trailers full and the suns gettin low. Time to head back downfield.
Around the pond.
by the blueberries
past the Northern Spy
..a fine apple
and the Macoun
Boots personal favorite.
and past the Hampshire. An apple originating in the Granite State. Vermont doesn't have its own apple.
On down around the raspberry field.
and the corn field
and the pumpkin patch.
This is city life for old Boots comin' from Maine. See that tree there?
Thats a cell tower. Boots seen it goin up with his own eyes.
Theres the river, Boots is back to the barn and done for the day now.
Boots works hard and at the end of a long day usually has a taste for something like this
That reminds Boots, the farmers daughter is home for the harvest. Boots ain't sure what this sticker means but somethin about it calls to him.
Well another one done. Time to head on down the road.
Boots is a freerider.
