It took you that long to figure this out? Now back to the topic, I just dumpstered some squash and a seasoned chicken in the crock set on low.

I've been doing beans in the crock...this last batch was phenomenal. I have a LARGE crockpot.
3 cups Pinto beans...soaked all day while I was at work
4/5/6 boneless/skinless chicken thighs + 2 tablespoons powdered chicken broth
    1 large white onion
    3 Jalapenos
4-5 other peppers from the garden...not sure what they are, but they are mild/medium heat
Corn from 2 ears of sweet corn

Cook on low all night and on warm for the next 3 days...eat it for breakfast and dinner for the next 3 days.

Going to the bathroom is pure joy during that time!

Sorry man...while it looks good and is "easier" than preparing it the traditional way...my great grandma would roll over in her grave if i made "gravy" that way....

    looks tasty enough though.

I work on a farm. We sell fire roasted corn on the weekends. People like butter with their corn on the cob. So I have a crock pot filled with about 4 pounds of melted butter I dip the corn in. Sounds good, but it's pretty gnar.
Take it easy ... if it's easy take it twice.

Can I come over and dip corn and lobster in your pot?

well the weather sucks, but the house smells freakin' amazing. Cuban Flank Steak in the crockpot, which will be served in a few hours on flour tortillas with melted Monterey Jack. I would give you the recipe except you Yanks aren't allowed anything Cuban

    Try this:
Chicken (I just used precooked stuff)
    potatoes, sliced
carrots, and any other veggies you like. Stringbeans, and/or cauliflower are best.
    Can of crushed tomatoes.
Curry paste or powder of your liking.
    Little bit of water.
    Heat.
I grew up eating this. It's the best.
Serve over rice. I like to put peas in the rice.
    No longer stuck.

I've got some kalua pig stewing in the crock right now, been in there for 12 hours or so. Easy, cheap and tasty.

1 pork butt, shoulder, or similar
    liquid smoke
    sea salt

Hit the pork with a fork all around a few times. Rub liquid smoke on the outside. Doesn't take much, I'd say a tablespoon tops. Rub sea salt on butt, again not much. Throw into crockpot on low and wait...and wait....and wait....wake up around 5am to the smell of glorious glorious pork wafting through the house, bang GF to celebrate, go back to sleep until pork is done.
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.

I have a pheasant and a 4qt crock pot. Was thinking of doing something with a little red wine. No cream sauce.
Little red wine, little chicken broth? Do I not have to cover it completely, or just about half way? Salt, pepper and herbs, obviously. What kind of time-frame we talking here?

Got a sweet slow-cooker recipe book from my gf's parents. Along with a nice cast-iron pan. With this week off, I intend to put both through their respective paces.

Will post TR if results are worth sharing

1.5 - 2 lbs of white fish (frozen fillets are fine) cut into cubes
    8 cups of chicken broth
5 potatoes cut into smallish cubes
    1 medium onion
    2 cups frozen corn
    1 cup chopped baby carrots
    4 stalks of celery chopped
    2 shallots
    4 cloves garlic

    2 tsp Hungarian Paprika
    2 tsp coriander powder
    1.5 tsp mild yellow curry
    1.5 tsp celery seed powder
    1.5 tsp rosemary leaf powder
    1.5 tsp french thyme
    1.5 tsp french tarragon
    salt and pepper to taste

Throw all this together and cook on low for 10 hours. (At the 8 hour mark I took everything out of the broth and put the potatoes back in then used an immersion blender to smooth and thicken the stock. You can skip this step if you like it chunky.) After the 10 hours, kick the heat up to high and add 2.5 cups of whipping cream and at least two cups of shrimp. Cook an additional 30 to 45 minutes and bowl up with oyster crackers. So damn good!!
Going to try this one this week.

I think what Danno is saying is that pretty much everything in this thread meets your requirements.

Slowcooker=cooking for dummies. Add ingredients, set to low, ski for 8 hours, enjoy.

This was a winner. Simple and tasty, though I will double the recipe next time because it didn't make very much:

    1lb stew beef
1/2 large onion cut into chunks
2 medium sweet potatoes peeled, cut into 2" pieces
2 strips of bacon chopped (recipe called for 2, i used 6...)
    1 can (14.5oz?) beef stock
    1 tbs corn starch
    1 tbs water
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper
    1/2 tsp thyme

set on low for 8hrs or until the potatoes are soft/tender

3 lbs boneless beef short ribs
    1 cup beef broth
2 cups hearty red wine (no fucking Pinot!)
2 Onions halved then sliced medium pole-to-pole
4 large Carrots peeled, then cut into 2" chunks
    4 crushed garlic cloves
    1 tbsp Tomato Paste
    2 bay leaves
    Salt & Pepper.

Season Beef with S&P then brown in 1 tbs oil in skillet - put in crock pot with tongs and pour off grease.
Add second tbs oil and cook onions until most of their water has evaporated and they start turning brown at edges - about 10 minutes.
Add Garlic and Bay leaves and continue cooking until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Add Tomato Paste and cook, stirring constantly, until pan bottom is covered with stuck on (but not burned!) tomato paste. Add mixture to crock pot.
Pour wine into skillet and scrape brown bits (fond) and tomato paste off skillet bottom with wooden spoon. Reduce wine by half and pour into crock pot.
Add beef broth and Carrots to Crock Pot, stir, and cover. Turn to Low and go skiing. The longer it cooks the better it tastes.

    Serve with Egg Noodles. YUM.

Mntlion is the KING of a can of tomato sauce, some beans, and a bunch of cooked meat with various spices ... always a winner after a day out of the house... BUT he surpised me the other day with what I like to call "Yam-a lamb-a Ding Dong"

Cubed lamb... browned and the greasy poured off or yer dinner will be gross
    onions (enough)
    yams (lots... hence the name)
    red Thai curry paste
and some of the ever present tomato sauce...

Next to the slow cooker was a note "add coconut milk and serve over rice"

    I love Mntlion.
