Fall Fishing Summit for Montucky/Wyoming?
Schwerty and I have been talking about this for us Montana/Wyoming/Whoever folks who are still throwing line out who may be interested in getting together for a little fall fishing. We've been tossing out the idea of maybe the North Platte, somewhere around Jackson, or maybe in Jellystone. Anybody have any ideas? I can say that the Wood river looks amazing right now, but is probably going to be done by the end of the month... but, that would provide an opportunity to fish and ski at the same time. Jellystone is good, anything in the Big Horn mountains is good, things around Dillon will be doing better (assuming they are still open, not sure of the regs anymore) anyone have any ideas? We would both like to keep it in Wyoming or Montana, somewhere fairly close, since we can't really travel alot this time of year. Anyone want to chime in?

Didn't they cancel fall this year up there? I heard they were going straight to winter today.

It's not enough notice for me this year. If you put it together again next year I'm there.

If I wasn't in the middle of an addition to our house and trying to get it enclosed before the snow flies I'd be all over this. That said, there may be a *chance* I'll be heading to Livingston, MT for work in the next couple of months......

Pow4, let me know if you get to Livingston. i might be able to get over there for a day on the Yellowstone.
I cant do a fishing summit mostly because im going to be spending 9 days up on the Mo starting friday. I have been getting more and more stoked for this for weeks now! tying lots of big ugly streamers.
My brother is bringing out a group of 6 non-mags from Maine, a couple other buddies might be up in the area. we have some cabins reserved in Wolf Creek, but there are camping options in the area. we will have one drift boat and one pontoon for sure, if other montana friends show up we may have more boats. i think we will be mostly wading though.
if anyone is interested in joining us for drinking and fishing, let me know."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

things thisway are probably done for the year... at least until mid winter. this moisture is great for skiing, but probably not so great for the already blown out rivers :-s

Things are just heatin up here!
Green, even with the extra low flows, is on! The Park is about to light up! The Snake has been off the hook wit yhe big uglies!!! The only lacking river is the South Fork. Still runny muddy from Palisades getting down to 1%.
A couple days on the MO wouldn't be a bad place for a summit. ?? nothing wrong with a mid winter fly line summit on the around the Big horn/Cody area either.

i think the travel day for the maineiacs is 10/21, but i could stick around. so yeah, we'll be up there 10/19 - 21. no need to worry about the family thing, my brother is bringing 5 guys i dont know and im bringing a few he doesnt know.
also for anyone heading up to the park, firehole, gibbon, maddy had risers on baetis last couple days with the bad weather. yellowstone and lamar are blown out.
i just spent two days driving around the park with my folks, tormented by rising fish without a fly rod in sight. should have just brought my gear and sent everyone else to drive around while i fished."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Nice Tavis,
my favorite thing about fall is BBT in small creeks. i caught a 18" brown out of bozeman creek right downtown bozeman a couple weeks ago.
i fished the blackfoot last summer, it might now be my favorite river in MT.
and congrats on the twins! wtf did you do for karma to send you twin girls?"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Thanks for the Blackfoot trib. stoke!
The tribs of the Blackfoot are some of my favorite streams. I'll be up at the end of Oct. to reunite myself with a couple of my old staples!

here's my brother with a nice brown, just pushing 20" and probably a little under 5. i love the hump back on that thing.

this bow is my best fish of the week. 23" (probably, cooler ruler only went up to 20"). pulled that guy out of maybe 4" of water hanging less than a foot from the bank. i spotted his dorsal fin poking out of the water and got him on a little bunny leech.

me with another nice bow, rocking the pimp 'stache. my wife really cant wait until i get sent out on a software installation and have to shave that shitstain off my upper lip. i think this is my favorite fish. after a couple days we had figured out how to stalk and catch the fish hanging out in the shallows. pretty fun trying to spot them and catch them before we spooked them off. we pulled up to an island that had become a favorite spot. some guys beat us there but had waded way out. they were pulling streamers through the deep channel and bitching about the slow fishing. i asked if they minded if i fished the shallows along the bank behind them, they said no problem. but they still gave me the stink eye when i landed that one.

my brother and another brown. i think we got this on our last night. i know we floated til way past dark that night.
