    SLC Dining Recommendations, Please.....

Will be in downtown for one night - anything new and exciting I should know about?

    Thanks!

My suggestion is to not go downtown. Head to The Paris on 15th and 15th. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is great. Ask for Clayton or Sean.

Takashi, best sushi in the city, really cool atmosphere. Heart of Downtown. Best Thai is Chanon Thai at 3rd east and 9th south. Also very cool atmosphere, definitely different though.

I like Ichiban for sushi + unique atmosphere. It's in an old converted Lutheran church, stained glass windows and all. And our friend who moved here from Japan liked it.

Also - Settebello is a good call for unique. It's just pizza, but it's real Neopolitan pizza made by a certified pizza chef from Naples. There are very few of these in the country, and it's the real deal. The atmosphere is okay but isn't all that interesting, but the food is excellent.

Bambara and the Metropolitan are both really good (and kinda pricey) restraunts. Both serve really good food though.

bumping because I just got back from Utah. Did some pre-trip research for good eats, and since we were staying in Midvale (La Quinta Inn), we went to Mekong based on this recommendation.

Freaking delicious. Two thumbs way up!

    Second: Paris Bistro

If you want to splurge, go to Paris Bistro and have them do a chef's tasting. One of the finest meals I have eaten. If you want to go cheap, prepare to freeze your nads off waiting in line at the Red Iguana. I like Ichiban for Sushi, but it will be packed with OR, as will the Iguanas. I'm guessing Paris will be under the radar a bit more.

Red Iguana = Great, Molca Salsa = 24 hr, cheap and greater

Screw upscale overpriced ichiban. Go to Ahh Sushi/O'Shucks. Its a bar and sushi place all in one, what could be better? Half priced rolls or nigiri before 6 (depending upon the day).

Or the Bayou. Great beer selection on tap and good atmosphere.

    *all places downtownish

If you ever get a chance to venture out west I strongly urge trying Thai Delight around 6200 South and Bangerter. In my opinion it is hands down the best Thai Food in the Wasatch Front. If you are going for ambience then this is NOt the place. The food however is out of this world good! Lucky for me it is close to my office.

    Bambara, overpriced and mediocre.
Metropolitan, overpriced, and that's all the food you get for that much money?

Second the Ichiban call. Nice place, good sushi.

Settebello is also pretty good authentic Roman style pizza.

Red Iguana and or Blue Iguana are great calls.

BUT the best place to eat in town, is to roll over Spencer's for steaks and chops at the Hilton Hotel and get yourself a cowboy steak medium rare, and some sauteed mushrooms.

    Red Iguana

The "Red Iguana" is the best mexican food outside of Mexico,
or go to the "Metropalitan" and spend too much money. The bar tender there will tell you how great He is.... Peace out Jay!!!

Damn this thread is making me hungry. Spencers is pretty darn good.

BUT...mmmm...real pizza...that's hard to pass up. I didn't eat pizza for over 6 months after I got back from Rome a few years back. I just couldn't stomach the crap here after that.
