They shouldn't have fought so hard to get into the military in the first place.
More gauze pads, please hurry!

Fuck. I don't want to go into the army. On the other hand, if my country needs me, what else can I do but join up and ship out? If the draft is reinstated you wont see me at any hippie rallies, nor will I move to Canada.

Not too worried it will happen, but for shits and giggles, what is the age cut off? I think I am in the clear at 29.

If you would have read the article, you would know that the age cutoff is 26. As far as them calling up 45 year old reservists, what do you expect? The guy was in the reserves, he knew he had a chance to be called up.

2. I stated a fact - they called up 45yo reservists.
3. I said nothing else.
4. You read more than what I wrote.

03-30-2004, 02:37 PM #13The U.S. House of Representatives and Senate have introduced new legislation to bring back the military draft in order to include women. The new draft states that any man or woman between the ages of 18 and 26 can be drafted into military service.

I'm 22 and sure as fuck don't want to go into the army, let alone Iraq. However, as a political matter I would not be opposed to reinstituting a limited draft to maintain a full military and as a counterweight to GW rushing us into any more stupid wars (in the sad scenario that we get another shrub term).
And if we had a draft and they called me I would go serve...

Don't worry. If you get drafted, just tell the Army you're gay. That's a violation of their "don't ask, don't tell" policy and they'll have to bounce you.

1. I wrote that for all the other mags that posted without reading it. Your post would not indicate that you read it, but I actually figured you did, you don't come across as one to post without bieng informed.
2. Yes you did.
3. No, you didn't.
4. I don't think I did.
5. Maybe you should have.
6. Name is Jeff, and I have the bad habit of posting things online that come off as bieng said with anger, malice, and what not, when in all actuallality there is nothing of that nature meant by my post. If only facial expressions, tone of voice, etc. could be more properly conveyed through the typed word, I would be much better understood.

Let's cross our fingers this happens (but it never will). It would be a cold glass of shut-the-fuck-up for the chicken hawks who wave the flag while plunging the nation into wrongheaded, but profitable, wars.

would you guys believe the Air Force is actually trying to cut people right now? Just over 16,000 actually.
Congress authorizes a certain end-strength...an exact number that that service may have, for which Uncle Sam will foot the bill.
The services may go beyond that number, but then it feeds off of their budget - from which they pay for gas for their vehicles, new projects, individual issues like boots and work jackets, housing and medical facilities, etc. etc. So continually having more people than authorized, if you're trying to get anything done for the service, is a bad thing.
Anyway the Air Force's number is somewhere around 300,000 I believe, and they determined that they're 16,600 or so over that limit. Basically they're easing the requirements for people to exit the service, especially if they're going over to the Reserves or Air Nat'l Guard. They even narrowed their overages down into yeargroups, and the area where they've got the most is the 2001 yeargroup. A whole lotta people joined up in 2001.
just funny to hear all this draft talk, and know stuff like this is going on too.
glad to hear the idea of women being included in the draft, it's about time. I'm all about equality, in full. Also that should make any politician think several times over before starting up a draft. It would be possible to lose an entire generation - much like what happened in post-WW1 Europe, but now fully lost with women too, instead of just the males.
