It is Van Hagar but they STILLROCK

Let the debate begin who was better Diamond Dave or The Red Rocker.
    IMHO
you cant compare. DD is a showman and his 6 albums absolutely rocked.

Sammy brought a kick ass guitar and alot more talent.

    cant wait for the show

    Werd.

You know.......I've always felt this way too. I was "there" when Van Halen came on the scene and then we also had Sammy Hagar some years later (when he reached his peak in, what? 1982?

To me that's just Sammy Hagar with a back up band that happened to be Van Halen. Two entirely different animals.

I LOVE old Van Halen and Sammy but together they just don't work for me, but hey..........whatever.

Van Halen without David Lee Roth is just not Van Halen. Van Hagar is a load of crap.

sorry mac. Verry hush hush, etc. Odd fact, you want sammy to play a private concert for you? He requires 75K upfront, and 75K before he walks on stage. Plus expenses. Blew me out of the water, I mean this guy is good, but kind of out of the mainstream.

    Two major problems:
    1. Van Halen hasn't written a listenable song in 20 years.
    2. The guy on the left.

I'll stay home and listen to my boot leg LP of a show in 1978.

on a strictly classic rock measurement scale:

    I saw original Dave VH = 9.5 of 10 !
    I saw Sammy ( i can't drive 55 tour ) 7.5 of 10
I saw Dave solo 6 of 10 ( raiting woould be lower without Steve Vai )
I've seen Van Hager twice 8.5 of 10

Frozen how many people were at your private show ?

it was for the novell brainshare, big annual event. Probably 750-1k were in attendance. A lot left right away though, maybe 3-5 hundred saw the whole performance. He had girls in bikini's walking around giving shots of tequila and throwing out coronas.

Kind of a iffy thing to do with a crown in Utah.

you didn't miss much. Unless of course you like sammy, if that's the case you missed an opportunity to see him live, play for several hours, interact with a small crowd and later talk with him backstage.

so, in retrospect, I guess you missed a once in a lifetime event. Bummer.

Come on guys. Van Hagar isn't that bad. Not nearly as good as the original with DD but still rocks in my book. Think I'll go listen to my 2 disc demo bootleg now.

Yes, it is. Very smooth. Come to think about it, I have a bottle in the kitchen right now...I think I'll do a shot while listening to said bootleg above.

IMHO, diamond dave and the red rocker each have their own place in rock history w/ VH. separate but equal, shall we say.

    anybody remember this?:
In 1993, seven years after leaving Van Halen, David Lee Roth was busted in New York City for buying a small quantity of marijuana.

Shortly thereafter, Roth was asked by Howard Stern, "So, Dave, you lookin' for publicity?"

"Howard, this is a $35-dollar pot pust," Roth replied. "If I was looking for publicity, I would have pooped on the sidewalk."

If you're like me, and I know I am, some of the guitar work on 5150 is baaaaaad-ass.

Ain't Talking 'Bout Love was the first some I learned to play, all the way through, both solos included. http://tetongravity.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif

no listenable songs in 20 years? huh...not so sure about that. If you drink enough of that CaboWabo you too can make the guitar hero stone cold rockin face. Kinda like my " o " face now that I think about it...talk about the best of both worlds.

I heard that Alex's hearing/ear canals were so shot from sitting behind that big ass drum kit and it's combo of noise/bass that he can barely walk due to vertigo. I know my ears ring like a bastard and I only have a wall of Marshalls seven feet high in my living room.
