Shane
I think I speak for everyone when I say we really appreciate you coming over to our little corner of the interweb and telling us about your skis.
I do however have a couple more questions if you dont mind.
How much camber do the skis have when placed in their free state base-to-base?
How big are the tips and tails? (ie rise and length of rise)
Thanks!

fyi, the kingswood regular flex is\was also described as a 04\05 or 05\06 gotama flex. (ie the black topsheet versions)

yea i saw the height, but i was also asking about the length of the tips.
im not going to assume the tail length is the same as the tip length, especially since its half the height.
im primarially asking though because of camber.
edit, and if i remember correctly, a 179 bro has a running length\effective edge of about 160cm.Last edited by pechelman; 08-02-2007 at 02:41 PM.

I feel the same way (I have Ants & new warrenteed '08 193 Blowers), but this is a price that you can't pass up. Put some P 18s on those skis & they'll rule. $250 is a super duper steal, so I don't feel so bad buying, $400 would make me think a little bit more, if I don't need another pair of skis I can sell my ANTs, but I'll wait on that.

My mid-fat Kingswoods check in at 4.2kg or about 9.5 pound per pair.
Bamboo is light because it is not a tree, but actually a grass. Since it has no bark it uses a system of chutes to move water around in the plant. Despite this, it test better in sheer test than most hardwoods and has a higher tensile strength than steel.
8 to 9 punds is not an outrageous claim considering the weigth of other bamboo skis. They do not have the carbon fiber layers like the KWs have ans are ever so slightly skinnier. Weight sounds about right to me.

The inner engineering nerd in me has to disagree with you there. The ultimate tensile strength of steel is around 58,000 psi (for A36 steel, the weakest kind). I couldn't find any research that put bamboo any higher than 45,000 psi (and that was the high end).
Regardless, I'm in for the sale. See you all at midnight.

Why do people keep saying this is a 187 Goat. That is NOT what I need to hear.
We'll see what happens on 9/1.....

I might be game for this....the only thing that is holding me back is that the skis are pressed in the same place liberty skis are, and I have first hand seen liberty skis delam after a few weeks... Can you tell me if the skis actual construction is more stable than liberty's design? Im not hating, just curious to the potential durability.

Can't wait till we start hearing some reviews from guys who have skied these. It's time to start building my quiver for the move out of PA, pretty sure a pair of 187s will be in it.

I was all set to spend $700 on the new Gotama's, but now it looks like that plan's in the tank. For $250, why not?

Both Jared and Shane have been trying to keep up with the questions and I thought I should jump in too.
We will be posting some pictures and videos of the skis soon (hopefully in the next week) so everyone can see a little better what they look like.
We are also starting to think about next season's designs and since we rely on feedback from the community let us know what you want in a ski. Either on this forum or PM us or email or whatever. We will be demoing our current skis this season as well as testing next years models as often as we can and we want all types of riders to give us feedback before we finalize any designs.
We want to make the skis that you guys will ride so let us know.Bluehouse Ski Co.

Serious questions: why should I buy your skis?
Right now, you could say that it's because they're $250. Which is a great deal (and I'm desperately trying to get my smaller-than-me roommate on some)*, but not a sustainable business model.
I do like the dimensions, and the posted weight, although sometimes you can make a ski too light. However, at $850 there are cheaper options that are similar (the gotama comes to mind), not to mention by established and respected companies.
I guess what I'm saying is find a niche and fill it. Look at other successful small ski manufacturers. DP does a lot of "Fun Shapes," and I'd be willing to bet that their company's success is dependent on them being innovative with the Lotus 120/138. Praxis decided to make a better spat, for cheap (at least the $400 deal). The list goes on--and it also includes small ski companies that aren't doing so well (does fattypus still make skis?).
*So I can try them out.

I don't think you would buy any ski for $850, regardless of the marketing. Unless possibly a DP or something else that's special/unique. And I'm willing to bet that, even if you bought a DP, it was a cosmetic blem and you didn't pay full price, because I know you, and I know you don't like paying much for skis.
The type of crowd that buys gotama like skis for 850 shops in ski shops, too. And then you have to have dealer arrangements and the like, and you'll cut into your profit a lot. If they're shopping on the internet, they're probably buying XXLs off SAC , or getting some ninthwards.
