Beck question.
What instruments does he play on recordings? Anybody know?
It isn't necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice. There are two other possibilities: one is paperwork, and the other is nostalgia.

I'm going to say, probably, all.
He's definitely a multi-instrumentalist, but who knows? Studio musicians and collaborators come and go. I'm pretty sure he does everything.

Becks father was some big time music producer. This may be part of why his albums after the first three have been so goddamn over-produced(for my musical tastes). He's also a scientologist.FYI.

I know he can play the two turntables and the microphone...
No, he probably plays something alright, I've never really listened very closely; it used to sound like he played a sort of intentionally sloppy acoustic guitar. I guess he's written a few catchy things, it was just too easy to toss out the 'nothing very well' line.[quote][//quote]

I think it's a hereditary problem, both he and his father got it from the aliens.

He's played a leafblower in his old live shows.

i don't think he plays much beyond guitar and the occasional harmonica.
he's had a couple of the same guys in his group for almost ten years (the dude that plays bass and the keys/percussion/kitchen sink guy).
in live shows, he only plays guitarfine

Not sure how many he plays, but I know Nigel Godrich played about 30 different instruments for "The information" (my favorite Beck album, previous favorite was Sea Change).
