    Bionicon Golden Willow Reviews?

    Anyone ridden one of these?

I saw one today at my bike shop and it looked pretty interestiing, gave it a little spin around the block and I can definitely see myself actually riding uphill on one of those once in awhile, and having alot of fun going downhill.

And, at $2700 it seemed like a pretty good deal compared to some Nomads, Enduros, etc. out there.

If nothing else, I think it might be just another pretty cool, small bike company, out of Germany, but with a small presense in the US.

lots of inhouse, propitiatory stuff on the bike scares me.

can the store work on the fork or shock? parts? will anyone else work on it? CAN anyone else work on it? what about parts? seal kits, springs, air seals, tear down sheets.

frame: can the pivots be removed? special tools? are the bearings avail in country? expensive? if a linkage breaks are parts avail in NA? or just in EU?

that being said, very cool bike, nice spec, light, good design, good deal (while it is running), but if you have issues I see trouble. BIG trouble

Too many issues if something goes wrong.

I know, Dave, those are all the issues I thought of right away, but then I figured: cool small company with only offices in Cali, so I shoud get some tender, loving care. I'm pretty mechanically un-inclined, so I wouldn't want to change anything on it, just replace the parts that are broke...

It looks sweet, super light for what it is, and that's why we spend money on cool, new shit anyways, right?

    Bionicon info

I wanted to give you guys some info about Bionicon USA. We are just getting going in the US and the European side has been going since 2001, which is growing really fast and is now recognized as the most High tech and functional bike on the market. We expect the same to happen over the next year or two as we get more established in the US.

We do all of the assembly, service and warranty for the US here in CA so parts are not a problem, no need to call the Germans.

Maintainance is actually very easy on this bike and the durability has been excellent, we stand very strongly behind the product. As far as dealers go, more and more are signing up and they are able to handle all of the standard maintainance as well as any warrenty issues for you.

Here are some links to some reviews on the bikes, also check the consumer reviews on MTBR.com.

I rode the edison for a small trail ride and loved it! If I could afford one I would buy it. Seriously! It suited my riding style for some climbing but more for fun oriented with the 6". I don't know about the golden willow but Fergyrock knows his shit!!!

My Edison 1 arrived today. Just in time for my 12 hr endurance race on Saturday woohoo!

Fergyrock gave me straight up honest answers to my questions on mtbr, Roger the UK rep has been first class as have the germans when I've spoken to them. If shit breaks they'll send whatever I need express (I've not got a dealer in my area yet) but I'll be servicing the shocks etc myself as it's so simple.

I've tested a Nicolai Helius cc, a stumpy fsr pro, enduro pro, yeti 575, Commencal 551 and a couple of others plus my hardtails. Each excels in their own way but the edison just takes the piss it's so versatile. It climbs with the best of them but on the downhill it rules all of them.

    Buy one.

Edit: One possible negative: Compared to the Nicolai, the edison is one fucking ugly bike.
