I've been slowly upgrading my SC Solo XO1 build over the last few months... with the new (to me) Rockshox Monarch Plus RC3 in the back, I definitely dig it.

I was e mailing chromag a few years ago trying to get a Samurai with horizontal drop outs. They were not all that attentive then told me "just run 36-18, it works in the vert drops." I had been doing that on my Evil Imp for years and hated replacing chains as they got loose, and wanted a lighter gear. Finally I realized I was looking for someone to build me what I had in the garage. VTPOWDERCOATSYSTEMS bead blasted it for me and I looked at the welds as the frame was a decade old and ridden hard. It looked great and I had it powder coated purple with flake and have not been disappointed. New Zochi 55 r3 ti V2 this year on closeout and Bill is still the man, I always wondered if Peyto was involved in Chromag. My buddy up in Lowell has peyto wild bill soc in a 15.5 and it looked A LOT like the older 26" Samurais....Only difference I could tell is they moved to a machined chainstay yolk which likely gave better tire clearance at a short chainstay length. More porn...

I got seven years from mine. Cracked at drive-side chain-stay and upper seat tube. Repaired. Cracked again later. Passed it on to a kid in need of a frame, his dad supposedly had capability to repair it... Probably should have sent it to a real builder for repair after that, but too late now.

Peyto is now doing environmental engineeering type stuff out here, of all places. Somewhere in NH-VT-CT-MA area, last I heard. Website is now gone, but that was when I was looking to have him repair my old frame. Told me he was out of the frame building business.

He repaired this one on the chainstay and HT/DT weld....must have used plenty of materials this Bill has taken a real beating. He said he was out of the business as well but did the repair out of his garage I believe. At that point he was in Van I think...

post a pic of your ride.

This is mine. Only stuff changed since this picture is that i put the screws in the pedals and removed a stem spacer. The ruling class have decided that I cannot afford a wheelset quite yet.

Thinking she'll be a nice porker to ride around my woods. Seriously considering ridding myself of the dorado and get a 170mm fork and shorter shock for extremenduro radness, though. Would be 170/164mm travel then, f/r. The build is looking like it'll end up around 15kgs, considering wheels, rubber, drivetrain and such.
