Ibis provided me with some really great C.S recently and I wound up with an HDR. Been riding their bikes for a bit now, and always so impressed with any interaction I have with them. No more 140mm mode which I am a bit conflicted about, but it will be fun to mix it up with a bit more squish. About to hit the road in the winter project (camper), and do some riding in GJ/Moab/CA. Excited.

Nice ride smmokan! Looks like a great build. Just bought a lightly used 2014 SX the other day. It's essentially everything I was looking for in a 27.5 all mtn ride. Running a Raceface 32T, Evo lock-on grips and a pair of Maxxis, the rest is stock. Need a 50mm stem and will probably end up with a different saddle, otherwise out of the box it's an awesome machine!

Kung- let me know how you like it.... unless I'm able to make a trip into UT or AZ, there won't be much riding in Colorado anytime soon with all the snow we have (and are soon to get). I was able to get it out on a quick 15-mile "shakedown" ride on the non-technical trails around my house and I like the way it pedals and feels compared to my old SC Solo. I can't wait to get it out on some real trails soon.

Interesting, how does it ride compared to the Solo?

Will do. Mind sending us Californians some snow? Would appreciate that! Until then, I'll be on this.

Refer above for a new photo. Had to break out the DSLR to give the bike and color justice.

Not sure yet, as I need to get it out on some real trails before comparing the two bikes. Might be a while here in CO.

^^^ Bad move trimming the handlebars. Unless you are only like 5'3. Should have ridden it a little with the wider bars first. Once you go wide, you' won't go back.

It's a matter of personal preference, and I personally don't prefer to be that spread out on a bike.

I am fucking STOKED. New bike arrived yesterday. Finished the build today and got to squeeze in a quick loop tonight. Thing fucking rips. Climbs like a mother fucker.

Lots of time on the road bike helped, but I still got some work to do. Hope to post some decent times this summer.

Sold the Trance and built this up- a combination of used/new parts to finish a Tallboy LTc. XT drivetrain (minus the cranks), RS Revelation 140mm, Flow EX wheels, etc. 27.5 lbs, I can't wait to get 'er out soon. You know, if this rain ever stops.

What didn't you like about the trance? Your build was sick! Not that the Tallboy isn't sweet, but I'm over 29ers... wasn't my thing...

I think the problem for me was that I was inbetween a M and L.... the M was too cramped, the L was too long and I couldn't get comfortable on the one I had. I just never got a feel for it. The bike had its moments and it was great (most of the time) going downhill, but I just like the fit and feel of Santa Cruz.

Can't argue with fit! I ride a Medium and it happens to fit great, but I have friends a bit taller and they mentioned the same thing about it feeling cramped. I bet the Tallboy is amazing up and down!
