I had one for several years too. Paid $1,000 for it "used" (guy's KSL ad said he rode it twice and "decided MTB'ing wasn't my thing", stock tires still had some molding threads on them), rode the piss out of it for 3 years and sold it for $500. Don't miss it though, great bike but my Reign climbs just as well or better and descends 100% better.

With those grips it had better be fast

It wasn't that it descended or climbed better than my current ride that I miss it, it was just a super solid and predictable bike that did everything pretty well. It was also my first FS bike and it had a lot of sentimental value for me. The only real gripe I had about it is the stock suspension bearings on it were pretty weak and would wear out quickly. I replaced mine with bearings from Enduro and never had the problem again.
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.

    Yes and No.

Like a lot of bigger brands they make their money selling $600 bikes. They just so happen to do this at non bike exclusive big box stores like K-mart and the like. Their top end bikes are likely made in the same factories that make all the other top end bikes.

In short a good GT is probably a pretty good bike. And a not so good one is probably not so good. You get what you pay for. It will never be as lustful as any of the botique brands, or even the major brands.

In GT's case though, their brand was a wreck until a few years ago when they made a "comeback". So it depends on what year the bike is (I forget what year they started getting decent again).

yeah, I saw a guy get a replacement for his cracked frame, and it was pretty nice. Still the same single pivot, but beafier link thingy on the bottom, nice sloping tubes, and they give him and extra inch
    No longer stuck.

Ready for it's first ride later this evening!

Mojo SLR - essentially full XT with XTR Shadow + rear derailleur. More of an all mountain build - short stem, wide bars and dropper post.

I live nearby. It's become my go-to ride. The climb from Camelsback to Crestline gets me the much needed workout. The bomb down Red Cliffs gets me the stoke to make sure I go out for more tomorrow. And when I'm feeling ambitious, I keep heading higher. Been up there the last three days, and likely to go again tonight, since I'll probably ride with the Byrds kids tonight and they like to do the same trail.

Swapped in for a TransAM frame. Two hours on it today - it was a good choice.

Was thinking about it today - my first big fork was a 'Zocchi Z150. The Revelation Dual Air here may not be as overall stout, but it's got the same travel, and half the weight. Nice. My XC bike being a 6" forked hardtail makes me happy.

My buddy just threw a pair of 650bs on his TransAM. He is extremely pleased, to say the least.

Cool bikes. I currently have my eye on the 29er version as an XC bike. Not sure if I should be shooting for something a little lighter and less aggro, but who knows. I'm sure it would be a sweet ride.

I've dabbled with a couple 29er things, and have been generally left feeling "meh" with the way they've handled. The in between size sounds like it could be sweet. I figure to try and begsteelborrow a wheel setup at some point to toss on this, and my Trance-X (if they'll fit) and see how they feel.

When your XC bike is a 6" forked hardtail, things only get better from there. My first big fork was a Z150. Sure, way burlier than the Revelation here, but also twice the weight and significantly taller,

My 2007 Dawg Deluxe. Now a single speed and just added the domain up front. Nothing special but it gets the job done.

The Sweet Reward Of Fiscal Irresponsibility

2012 Stumpjumper Evo Comp. It's stock with a few exceptions:
*XT brakes replaced the Elixir 7s
*CB 740mm carbon Iodine bar replaced the 720mm stock bar
    *I ditched the stock 2x10 for a 1x10 with a 33t chain ring and LG1 guide.
    *A sweet-ass red bottle cage.

29 lbs. at the shop with heavy CB mallet pedals. I haven't spent too much time on it, but so far I'm pretty stoked.

A few words about my 2008 6 Point 6, which will now generally be put to pasture: It's a shame that the guys at Iron Horse screwed the pooch so badly because this is a sweet bike. I got at a time when I didn't have any bikes, so it served as my XC, AM, and DH bike. I raced it XC at the Downieville Classic; I've raced it DH at Northstar. (I was slow at both, but whatever.) Despite abusing the crap out of it, I've never once had a problem with the frame or had to replace any part of it (bearings, etc.). On the ups, the bike has a DW Link suspension and pedaled about as well as a 36-pound bike can. On the downs, I don't know if there are many better bikes in it's class. But I wanted something a little lighter and more trail-oriented. Thus, the Stumpy Evo. Still, I feel an emotional attachment to my old 6 Point, which has been so good to me that can't bring myself to sell it (not that I would get much in return).

Damm, those new Stumpys are one of the sexier frames out there. Not sure why but for some reason those lines just do it for me. Nice bike.

the combo of the straight top tube lining up with the rear and the swoopy downtube definitely do it for me. i really wish my shop sold specialized.

Whats with the eccentric BB? To make it singlespeed? I saw a similar frame hanging in a shop this spring and thats all I could figure.
