2nd curtain sync
so i literally didn't know there was a photo/video forum now.
anyway, i finally picked up a flash last week (chris o'connell's old one, incidentally. sorry, it's a name drop opportunity that i can't pass up) and have been messing around with different stuff.
i've been trying to get the motion effect with the 2nd curtain sync, but all of the exposures haven't been close to some of the examples i've been looking at (http://flickr.com/photos/latitudes/133206615). what's generally the exposure time to get these kinds of effects? 1/250? 5"? 30"? like i know with sports photos you can be panning and have 2nd curtain sync set and you'll get a better representation of motion, but even then i'd assume you'd have a fairly fast shutter speed, but the above example seems like it'd be at least a 1"3 exposure.
any advise is appreciated.
oh, p.s. what the hell is the deal with the battery door on the 550EX? is there some kind of magical incantation that i have to invoke or g-spot that i have to hit in order for that thing to freaking open and close? canon dropped the ball on that one for sure.Last edited by The Jackamo; 05-11-2007 at 09:15 PM.
