    179 K2 Public Enemies

Trying to help out the ski review listing here since I bought these skis last feberuary here is what I think.

What K2 says about the ski.

179 Public Enemies what K2 says - A truly lethal tool designed for the park and anywhere else you want to venture. This ski is built with a stiffer Triaxial braided wood core thus giving it strength to withstand the toughest of landings and the confidence and stability to rip any terrain. Equally at home in the park as it is in crud or the steeps, the PE is a menace to society and your mind that will lead you on a man hunt to discover which way is up on its op-art topsheet.

    Dimensions: 118/85/109
Target Performance: High Performance All-Mountain Pipe and Park Twin
    Radius: 20m @179
    Construction: Torsion Box Sidewall
    Core: Fir

    alittle about me.

5 years of skiiing about 100 days a year. Some race background.
advance/expert but many on here kick my ass regularly
my favorite terrain is trees and tighter spots. Prefer off piste if it anybit good if it not than I just like to GS turn groomers.

I mounted my skis at the freeride mark(aka further mount back that is marked). tons of tip not that much tail. Not the best for park but still surfices.

I bought this to my skinny midfat this year. Due to lack of snowfall at Snowbird.

Powder - Would you believe me if I told you this skis was better in powder than say a SD. well for me it was and let me explain. The PE has huge up turned tip and the forebody of the ski is actually pretty soft. It never feels surfy, like my gotamas, but will easily ski powder although it a little old school. Diffenently get more face shots on these than my fatter skis. In powder and trees this is really fun ski to use also great in powder bumps. Overall not at as at or as nimble in soft snow as the longer bigger boards but still pretty damn fun.

Crud - crud it works great in. It will do any turn you want as long you keep your speed in check alittle. Something like a squad would obviously be better but the K2 at lower speeds is playful and fun in tracked up snow. I little longer ski here would be nice to increase the speed in crud alittle bit.

Chalky off trail snow/bumps - Great edge hold super quick edge to edge. Stiff enough to launch you to the next turn but soft enough never to bite a good skier in the ass. This is a great video of me(a medicore skier) skiing some harder snow off trail at snowbird.

in bumps this ski narrow waist and not that much sidecut make it great bump tool for anyone but a true bump specialist.

Groomer - yeah I know alot of people on here would like to say they never ski groomers. but FYI this ski rocks them. Short turns, long turns fast slow. IT just keeps on motoring. More lively than damp death cookie will make feet feel it, but overall a solid fast ride on groomers even in sheer freeze cycle ice. Again call me gaper if you will but have Platniumed at NASTAR on these things. ONe of the best groomer skis you can get with out going to race ski skinny.

Park - I dont much if any park but when i did I found fakie landing are easy enough although my old center mounted twins did it easy and the K2 is pretty light ski and can be tossed around in the air easily.

overall a light lively not all that damp ski. Its a really fun ski to go out on. Does have speed limit although it pretty high. Could be a one ski quiver for someone who likes skinny skis.

bumps/trees the ski didn't want to make rapid turns for me

    otherwise this is spot on

no 85mm ski has the right to ski powder as well as the PE does... it's remarkable!

Thanks for the review...I was skeptical, and decided not to pull the trigger last week when they were on SAC for $200. I guess once Fall comes around I'll look again
"Oh, no pics. To simulate the skiing today, walk out your door, grab a handful of snow, and throw it in your face. Repeat as necessary.
If you don't have snow outside your door, what the fuck are you living there for?"

I bought these when they were on SAC last week. Mounted them up with G3 Targa X-Race bindings and hit A-basin saturday. Good mix of powder and ice, and they never let me down even on those random high-speed transitions from one to the other. Came from some noodly 65mm-underfoot skis though, so I may not be the best judge of ski quality. I love 'em though.
