$1 Fee for not rewinding (NSR)
Last night the gf and I rented a flik and when it arrived I opened it up and it was not rewound...pain in the ass, nothing more. Then i noticed that the tape had a sticker on it saying there was a $1 fee for returning a tape that's not rewound. I always thought that fee was for the pain and suffering the store employee had to endure to then rewind the tape, and to pay for the little machine he/she sticks it in (break-down like 40/60 btween the two).
So now is this fee really just a slap on the wrist to the guy who didn't rewind it, and then the store simply passes on the problem to the next customer?
I'm not going to rewind this tape, and I'll fight any charges!!

Dude- you are wasting your personal capital getting pissed at shit like that.
Getting all bent about simple stuff like this just plain ain't worth it."It is not the result that counts! It is not the result but the spirit! Not what - but how. Not what has been attained - but at what price.

The fee was put in place because of the urban legend that rewinding shortens the life of your VCR. This may have only been true on the very first models because of the way the gears and the "idler tire" were built. People were returning them not rewound because of this and because of plain laziness. The cost is to act as a deterrent and to pay the store employee to rewind it in the store's machine.
I'd mention it when you return the movie. Maybe even ask for the extra dollar because you rewound the tape twice.

actually the movie was Old School which we hadn't seen in a loooong time and the whole thought was funny because of the medication ingested to thoroughly enjoy it.
