Great TR! Gotta love the mixed climbing aspect of getting those higher more technical ascents.

I read this by dialup- havent seen the pictures yet, but even without pics, I love this TR, especially this:
I really wish I could have captured the downclimb through the icefall with the camera. Instead it was meant for our memories and this brief description. As the snow fell it blew thick over the Loft’s east side. The icefall was the funnel for all this snow, so as we front pointed down the cliffs, a flume of snow poured over the tops of our heads. I remember looking down at Homi and just seeing snow spill off his body like he was in the middle of a water fall.

I went to your original link and, the pictures actually look better here. I have been up Longs so many times, and by various routes (hiking/climbing). The summit descent is truly a huge accomplishment of athleticism and exposure and risk management. Very nicely done in variable conditions..probably some of the best for this descent.
Just curious, were you able to start from the ranger station? What time?

what a memorable day - more type 2 fun than you can shake a stick at
what doumall tactfully omitted from his kick-ass TR was that my tank was pretty much empty when we hit the loft. My day began a full day before we hit the trail with an early AM shift, followed by dinner with Fritz (who makes some gourmet shit, fyi), and finally a couple hours sleep before heading back out at 2am. Sadly, Fritz was out after his respiratory chlamydia flared up. Doumall was still game though, so we met in Boulder and got to the ranger station trailhead around 4am, and skinning shortly after. We were making pretty good time until we hit the loft and my 10 hr extended bonk set in. We kept at it. Talk of snow caves made doumall rock back and forth in a PTSD kind of way. We got back to the car well after 9pm.
Doumall and I had only skied once prior to this trip, but you get to know a person pretty well on a sufferfest like this. His patience, focus and route-finding are all top-shelf. You can't ask for much more in a ski bud.
cheers, dood

Well, that's another thing I'm never gonna do.
Nice work, though, obviously.
But what exactly is "Clark's Arrow"? I googled it without success (lots of mentions, no explanations). Something to do with Lewis and Clark?

Burl. That's where it's more about the mountaineering than the skiing.
How did Keplingers look?

I would NOT want to climb that in ski boots. Or even self-adhering shoes!
