rather than find foam blocks to carve, you can always buy some 2 part polyuerethane pour foam, mix it yourself, and have it be molded directly to your feet (ie no carving).
fun stuff to play with too
generally you can order this from places like aircraftspruce, wicksaircraft, mcmaster, etc etc for fairly cheap for small amounts.
search around on google for it too if youre interested.

I just threw some out 2 days ago. I bought it at the BOC but now that is closed the only places I can think of would be Confluence down in Denver or a shop up in Fort Fun.

basically youve got it right
id reccomend against pouring it into your boat as itll be hard to accurately pour it.
best thing to do is find or make a "tub"
if its something you care about, line it with plastic
otherwise just mix the two parts, and pour it in.
then wrap your feet in garbage bags to keep the shit off of them
find yourself a chair or something to sit on
the whole show is over in about 5-7 minutes
if you want to do it this way, and want help, ive done lots of stuff with pour foam, and would be happy to lend a hand. it comes in all sorts of densities too, so you can make it as burly or light as you want. obviously the lower density stuff is not nearly as strong and durable.
heres a quick example of what to expect
