Can we get a tennis forum???

Seriously, it's a really great dirtbag game. Get a nice old graphite racket from goodwill and after that it's just balls. About a $1.50 per session. Assuming you're on free public courts of course.

Just picked up these sweet sticks on ebay. 20 year old frame and still better than anything built today. It's like the explosiv of rackets.

Edit: Okay, I'm not really serious, but tennis is fucking fun as shit.

Tennis kicks ass, took it up somewhat frequently at the end of last summer with the gf. Nice quick, easy, cheap way to get some exercise and enjoy the sun without having to leave the city.

Also fun to hear intense old dudes on the other courts refining their trash-talking skills

i played in college when i was out of hockey for a season. Fun sport, but the bad knees and shoulders weren't an ideal combination to winning matches. Maybe we could do a misc. sports forum?

I think we should start a poll on whether anyone who asks for a new forum shouild be banned.

I don't like tennis. I don't like polls anymore, either.

I suggest you check out the forums on tennis.com. I divide my time in the office between tennis.com and TGR

I am still using my old Prince Graphites with kevlar mains, ala 1993. Next to skiing and golf, it has remained one of my favorites. For the hell of it, I picked up a couple Wilson T2000's the other day.

I pretty much majored in tennis while in college. After, I played for a few years and got away from it. 2 years ago, I subscribed to Tennis Magazine. My wife kinda looked at me when the first issue arrived like "wtf?" I now have a quiver of racquets that rivals my ski quiver. I even bought a bunch of classic woodies on ebay. My game is in the pretty good stage. I am looking to add a ball machine to my bag of tricks. In short, tennis keeps me sane until the snow comes back.

Wow! An alias for a thread in one of the least trafficed areas of the board. You sir, are dedicated. I'm honored.

Anyway, I've been cruising the forum over at tennis-warehouse.com. If you think people around here are nerdy about gear, you should check out these guys. A thread title might be "What kind of socks was Andy Roddick wearing at Wimbleton?" I'd be like someone here asking, "What kind of Whiskey was Nobis drunk on when he ran from cops? Cause I want some of that!"

It's interesting to learn about "classic" tennis rackets though. Turns out, all the graphite rackets from about 20 years ago were spot on. Everyone today is looking for the feel of those rackets, but companies seem bent on new shit with gimmicky technology (ski industry anyone). The racket Pete Sampras plays with is a certain model made in a certain factory in the West Indies between like 1984-1990. People pay lots for them. A brand new one went on ebay for $950 a couple days ago.

Tennis actually has alot to do with skiing. It's what ski companies pushed in the summer. Head, Volkl, Rossignol, Kneissl, and Fischer all make/made rackets.

So you're saying that old Prince Precision Graphite I have lying around is worth some bling? Hmmmm...

I was too much of a baseball player to play tennis. It showed in my swing.

Probably not worth much but it depends on which Graphite you have. Is it the green one, with the cross bar and the velvet headcover? If so, I know a couple people who would like to have it around.

Any of you folks in Seattle? I need a good tennis partner. We can smack our balls around and then play tennis.
